If he’s trying to get fired, it would only be for a timely book deal.

It’s what Washington bureaucrat weasels do when they are losing an internal policy debate. They speak to the press (or leak something) to try and put their opponents in a corner. And Fauci has been playing the Washington Weasel Game for 52 years.
Very disappointed that Trump apparently has not caught on.
