I keep hearing that, but I keep seeing evidence that this isn't the case. Again, 60,000 dead in a little over a month, and 60,000 was the top end of the estimated number of deaths for last year's flu for the entire season. (Six months of flu?)
This thing would seem to be six times worse than the flu, (if the death rate doesn't start declining) and that's WITH all the efforts to slow it down and contain it.
What would it have done if people simply didn't change anything they were doing?
I think there is a possibility most of the country would look like New York City does right now.
I realize that everybody on FR is all of a sudden some kinda medical expert or Albert Effing Schweitzer, but I'm not.
I'm Captain Everyman and I have general automotive expertise (My Cousin Vinnie). I leave the medical jargon to those who actually know, of which that number is very low.
My read is that its just another variation of a flu or virus. Not the flu we are used to, but a natural occurring or man-made mutation.
Still, ultimately, just the flu, bro.
And no, we wouldn't look like Mad Max if we had reacted to it as to any other flu. That's the hype that was perpetuated on you by the derps to achieve their purpose. And achieve they have. So far.
Stop helping them.
