For discussion:
During a pandemic of respiratory virus, who should wear a mask, outside their home, over their mouth and nose and why?
Do you wear a mask outside your home?
Why?
My understand is that a mask isn’t to keep the virus out, it’s to protect others from you if you have it.
If I walk in the park or out to get the mail, I have it around my neck and avoid people. If I’m going to pick up an order or where people necessarily gather, I’ll wear it. Gloves and masks for sure at the grocery store, gas station, etc. Mainly because those are our orders.
I think the standard precautions for the flu should be plenty in the current situation, since they don’t have a vaccine and stay-in-place place merely postpones the inevitable while destroying the economy.

The best “experts” in the world originally told us not to wear masks. Not only is it ineffective, but also it could make matters worse. (We weren’t supposed to notice that healthcare workers were decked out in masks 24/7.) Two weeks later the same “experts” told us that it’s important to wear masks for safety. They vacillated between whose safety was being protected — the wearers’ safety or the other guys’ safety.
They lied to us about masks. It’s a rudimentary issue and they would’ve learned this in medical school.
At home we don’t wear masks. So far, we haven’t gone anywhere where masks are required, and we avoid those places that do. On Monday I see a doctor for a pre-surgery consultation and they require masks, so I’ll make one and wear it for that. Hubby will stay in the car sans-a-mask.
Masks are de-humanizing, and apparently nobody knows whether or not they work. It’s BS to turn us into Sh!tholistan drones, and I think the main purpose is to break our spirits.
