Arcata Police Department press release:
On Sunday, April 12, 2020, The Arcata Police Department received a fraud report from the Valley Azteca Restaurant, located in the Valley West Shopping Center. The scam consisted of a fake, online ordering webpage for the restaurant, through a website named Order Hero.
The webpage contained accurate restaurant information including phone number, address and actual menu items. Customers accessed this false website through Google.com which appeared as Aztecavalley.site
Customers provided credit card information through the website at the time of ordering and when they arrived at the restaurant, to pick up their food, they learned no such online ordering services existed.
The Arcata Police Department cautions the community when ordering food and other products online and recommends verification of services through the business before placing an order, especially when using a new or unknown service provider.

Rush Limbaugh had one of his many LifeLock commercials today and was saying that the COVID scammers are coming out of the woodwork. I was skeptical, but then read this article.
The longer the law-abiding stay locked up, the more unforseen consequences from the lawless we’ll experience.
Scammers when caught need to be publicly flogged, put in stocks for a while and time in the slam.
Olive Garden has a great deal for “curbside pickup”...basically 2 meals for $13. We went online last night and placed an order. When offered to either pay online or at the curb the thought of scam briefly flitted though my head. I waited to pay at pickup. It was OK. Now I see this. Gotta be careful.
Looters should be shot and killed these ya holes are looters
The State or location where this occurred should have been in the keywords section of this post. This is especially true since the FR posted portion of the article also does not provide more information than “Arcata”, wherever that may be.
There was a female cop gunned down here on Friday and within an hour there were several fake donation websites set up to collect money for the funeral and her orphaned child.
Humboldt county California.
Thank you. I lived in Southern California for 7 years and I don’t recall anyone mentioning Arcata.
Scammers and identity thieves should be immediately shot after being found guilty.
The law abiding don’t stop these scams that organized crime spends 24/7 thinking about.
This might not have been...but trust me...it’s what they do.
In a darker lifetime I would have wanted a piece of it.
But now I fear God..and hate screwing people

Track these scuzbuckets down and cough on them.
Agree.
Arcata is in far Northern California, just north of Eureka, in Humboldt County. At first I thought it was Arcadia, which is in Southern California.
If flogging was in the form of caning, then a little stint in the stocks might be welcomed, as sitting would not be comfortable for awhile anyway. With all the forms of scamming occurring nowadays, this just might be a good way to go. The guilty would likely remember the error of their ways for a long time.
