Throwing up for nearly 3 days, rupturing my esophagus (throwing up bright red blood will get your attention!) in the process and getting a trip to the ER + drip + monitoring room for 12hrs...but I lost eight pounds!

Lost more than that because I was on a liquid diet to let my esophagus heal for a while.

My wife had her DKA/seizures on August 26th. Her weigh-in had been 132 lbs on the 25th. When she returned home on the 29th it was shower and weigh-in time. 126 lbs. Not much nutrition offered as the ICU is titrating insulin to take you down from a BG of 469 and trying to drive down the ketones.

She wasn't unhappy with the weigh loss, but that's a pretty expensive way to get there.
