The stats of New York current as of 04/09:
Of the 7,067 deaths in New York since the first mortality on March 14:
61% were men, 39% were women
83% of the deaths were among those age 60 and older
No matter the age, COVID-19 is a serous illness for many people with underlying chronic disease
5,630 (80% (was 87%)) of those who died had at least one chronic disease, with the top three identified being:
Hypertension - 66% (was 64%)
Diabetes - 43%
Hyperlipidemia - 23% (was 21%)

From a public health perspective, any mask is CLEARLY better than no mask, if only because they block coughs and sneezes from shooting out to others. From a personal health perspective, I also agree that anything that can stop particles of any size is better than nothing.
