I thought the consensus was the models were all wrong, nobody has actually died FROM CV and this was all a hoax to crash the economy? And moreover, it’s not as bad as the flu.

Honest question, when we open up nationwide (which will depend on the governors, not trump), what do you think will happen?

I think the opening will go smoothly.

Gotta admit it could be tough though.
What’s “bad” from media and what’s really bad will matter.

“...what do you think will happen?”

I think it will be a long, prolonged infection rate with continued numbers of people dying. Or - it will start to spike again and they will want to shut things down again in order to keep the hospitals from getting overloaded. Avoiding hospital overload is about the only thing the shut downs are for as far as I can tell. Although hopefully some of these treatments will be found to work - or stamped okay by the Feds, and that will be a huge boost.

Acquaintances live in California - we are in Washington State. My wife got a text from them. “Hi there - so I hear the flu is gone now up in Washington. We're just getting it here now so we have to wear masks. Hopefully it will be gone as quickly has in Washington.”

I have NO idea where they are getting their information. And I thought California was only a week behind Washington in shutting things down? And no - the "flu" isn't "gone" yet.
