Michelle Obama and Kerry Washington are imploring the public to avoid buying up all the WIC products in the rush to stockpile groceries during these unprecedented times of social distancing and self-quarantine.
WIC products (Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children) are designed to meet the nutritional and healthcare needs of low-income women, children under the age of five, and breastfeeding women.
The 43-year-old Scandal and Django Unchained actress took to Twitter to elucidate how important these items are for selected populations:
When stocking up for #SocialDistancing If you see something labeled WIC please chose another brand. People who rely on WIC products to feed their kids cannot. Were all in this together 🙏🏾 pic.twitter.com/3OwhR650m4

Former first lady Michelle Obama, 56, concurred with Washingtons sentiments and asked that fearful citizens nevertheless look out for their fellow Americans:
.@KerryWashington is right. The first few days of each month are crucial for families that depend on WIC products. Lets look out for each other by taking the extra few seconds to look at those labels. Every act of kindness counts. ❤️ https://t.co/C1Eq6NmXfv

Here are the WIC waivers state by state that have been changed
Does this include tampons and pads for men who menstruate?
How the hell are we supposed to know what is a WIC product, you old Wiccan Witch?
This would make sense if it were not coming from the mouths of people who want to enable the deaths of as many babies in the world as they possibly can.
Hypocrisy that cries out for Gods vengeance and ours.
FWIW my local WM and Aldi’s label the shelves where WIC products are stocked.
Women won’t even use their breasts for their kids today, its so bad there’s a black market for formula today.
So, we get taxed to feed other people and then get told not to buy “their food”??
How about we stop taxing one group to buy the votes of the other group and let them starve from their own stupidity and laziness?
WIC serves 53 percent of all infants born in the United States.
If the Democrats were running things, we’d already have ration cards by now.
Dairy farms are literally pouring milk down the drain currently. Government bureaucracy causing needless waste.
I think you have it backwards.
The black market in baby formula does not exist because women dont want to breastfeed.
Baby formula is expensive and it is on the approved list of WIC purchases. The EBT cards that are used to pay for WIC items are programmed to only permit purchases of approved items.
So the EBT cardholders buy baby formula, and then resell it on the black market for cash. One can surmise what they might be buying with that cash.
The buyers on the black market are unscrupulous retailers, or maybe wholesalers, who buy it at a cheaper price than they could purchase it from the manufacturer.
Eventually it gets into stores, and sells for normal market price.
If you’re the government, it’s what you do.
Idiots. The Last thing dairy farners need now is for people to avoid buying mulk and dairy products. Already some of them are being asked to dump their milk
Trump should really stand up and come out against this nonsense.
even if it is a good idea, if i see the Yeti behind it, I ignore it.
Dairy Farmers are dumping Milk. Grab a Bucket.
The tundra is missing its wookie, go home
WIC is tied to EBT cards.
I recall seething as of late last summer when watching clips of folks purchasing LOBSTERs using EBT cards.
And very expensive organic vegetables that I couldn’t afford.
The only note on the LOBSTERs was that they couldn’t be purchased using EBT cards of they were cooked. Live, though, they could be purchased.
I think it was in Boston, Mass and out in California.
May even have seen a clip about this from Oregon.
I was livid.
I had to click on the article to see for sure. It says “People...”
So does this imply that WIC users should also not buy WIC items?
Or more sinister (as they would interpret it if it was a conservative person/publication) are they saying WIC recipients aren’t even people?
I can’t understand how anyone who has listened to MLK’s speech
about judging people by the content of their character and not the color of their skin
can not see the obvious Truth embodied in these words and act accordingly.
