CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Police broke up a gathering of about 50 protesters outside of a Charlotte abortion clinic on Saturday.
Eight people who refused to leave the premise at the Preferred Womens Health Center on Latrobe Drive were arrested.
Police said the gathering of 50 people violated the mass gatherings in the North Carolina Stay at Home Order.
All of the participants were asked to leave, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.
After an initial request for compliance, 12 people who were in violation refused to leave and were issued a citation for Violation of Emergency Prohibitions and Restrictions under NCGS 14-288.20A(2).
Following the issuance of citations, eight of those people still refused to comply with the order and were arrested.

Were they 6 feet apart?
But steal 900 dollars worth of stuff, and police won’t arrest you.
God bless the abortion protesters.
Yet baby murderers can go cry to a judge and they get orders removed.
God bless them indeed. States hit the worst by covid-19 are the ones that celebrated when the moment of birth abortions were approved by the legislature, to name one of their societal sins.
Of course New Yorkers would insist no one should say or even think that. I don’t see what difference it makes to them - they don’t believe it anyway.
Well how about that 1st amendment?
State governments on the left and right have been running roughshod all over the constitution lately.
They recorded the whole thing. The people were more than 6’ apart, and were simply praying for the women and children in the abortion clinic.
Assembly, according to the police, is whatever they want it to be.
