Thats what I said in a previous post.
We will know how dire the war zone (media term) situation is based on how full the ship is.
I don’t know whose responsibility it is to transfer patients to the Comfort. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Mayor is in charge and simply hasn’t made the necessary arrangements.
I am curious who is pretending this isn't happening.
Easy—the people who are saying that hospitals are not under pressure from COVID-19. That’s what this thread is about!
All the arguments just on this thread alone go to show you that all these state-wide lockdown are idiotic. Its and regional lockdowns/ quarantines as needed would have been a much better way to handle this. But no. We have to listen to the morons in the media, and doctors enjoying the spotlight while the national economy is destroyed and socialism expands.
Said the court jester who keeps posting about phantom sisters who just so happen to be doctors at phantom hospitals which conveniently happen to be overwhelmed with coronavirus patients..
Did you happen to read post # 113 at all?
And if you did, what is your answer then?
Why the hell would I lie about my sister being a physician?
Because you've been pushing a coronavirus panic and mass hysteria agenda here for weeks?
You can take what I said at face value, or leave it
I'll leave it, thank you.
I really dont care. I was just trying to add an additional data point to the discussion here.
No you weren’t.
I thought this was settled. Some are under pressure and some aren’t.
I agree with yousome are under pressure and some arent. The people who claim that no hospitals are under pressure are delusional.
SmokingJoe, you need to put down the joint or whatever you are smoking. See post 127. You may think that no hospitals in the U.S. are under pressure, but youre wrong.
I will simply re-post #113 which was directed at you.
You claimed in post # 2:
Why dont you listen to what the doctors and nurses themselves are saying? My sister is a physician, and she went from being a FluBro to deeply concerned as soon as her hospital was flooded with COVID-19 patients.
So this question was directed at you: in post # 113
I've got an idea - how about every one of you people who claim to know someone who has seen this mass chaos at a hospital just simply name the hospital. Then we'll send one of these citizen journalists out there to confirm. That way, we get good information, instead of rumors or unreliable BS and people can start getting an accurate picture of what is happening. That's reasonable, is it not?

Still patiently awaiting what hospital this phantom “sister” of yours who is naturally a “doctor in a hospital swamped with coronavirus patients.” is at.
[Something that I dont think people who arent in the business dont realize. These patients who are presenting for care are ALL critically ill. In a normal day even a big hospital only has a handful of these cases and the resources a case like that suck up are immense.]
My guess is the medical staff in the hospitals in NYC are rapidly becoming grizzled combat veterans. 1,000 yard stare. The healthcare they provide in years to come will be nothing like it once was. I suspect their patience for BS will be VERY low.
Almost missed the question in there. What is the hypochondriac to actually ill ratio? My experience is that is a function of the community. I found Active Duty soldiers to be almost reliably stoic. Especially in the presence of their peers.
Suburban housemoms, not so much. Especially in regards to their children. My daughter calls at least once a quarter asking about the new grandchild that is ill. She knows I wouldnt give advice over the phone outside of very limited cases to my actual patients. She also knows I would never practice Medicine on my own family. Outside of very limited cases. I asked her if she would let me fulfill a personal fantasy, to deliver my own grandchild. She insisted I not be in the same state.
Point being even my daughter knows all this but she cant help herself. When one of the grandkids gets sick I get a call. I am always happy to take it. I cant help myself.
[In your experience, whats the hangnail-grade hypochondriac to terminally-ill stoic ratio?]
You would be astonished at what a miserable filter the staff is.

Its happened to me. From years moonlighting in ERs or being the OIC of a military ER i knew that scaphoid fractures were hard to diagnose on X-ray. When I was an FP resident most of the doctors i the hospital (Radiologists, ICU guys, ER docs) knew who I was ad I enjoyed being treated more as a per than just another resident.
One night my wife was chasing the dog and tripped and Fell on outstretched hand. FOOSH. She immediately complained of pain, a brief exam revealed it could well be a scaphoid fracture. I drove her to the ER where she was see by an ER doc I knew. I let him do his job. We chatted briefly but it a word about her case. I knew better. She got the X-ray, the report came back, Negative and she was about to be discharged when I said, Could you wait just a minute? I strolled over to Radiology and asked the guy on duty, whom I knew, Can I take a quick glance? Sure.
There it was, a little difficult to see because of the obliquely of the beam. Scaphoid fracture. So I was able to save my wife some disability. She had the surgery a couple days later to screw the two pieces back together again. Principles and policies are there for a reason but should never be blindly adhered to when the error is obvious.
You claim to have read my posts for weeks. If you’ve done that, you should already have a good idea of where the hospital is. I already said I’m not going to name it on this thread.
