Give this a week.
If the death curves are not approaching the charts and graphs we were shown yesterday Trump is going to call bullsh*t. Tony Fauci will be allowed to quietly slink away.
Protect grandma and go back to work. We can walk and chew gum at the same time.
I’ve been working more hours than I normally would.
First need
1) 15 minute test available at Dr offices urgent Cares, & hospitals.
2) anyone teeting positive gets hydroxychloroquine, z-pack, and zinc doses.
Then we can go back to work.
Until then, NO
Encouraging everyone to wear masks in public would greatly reduce transmission.
Ok Adolf control everyone when everyone is not at risk.
First, we have to have enough masks for everyone.
Sadly Nancy and Joe are going to blame every single death on Trump, so he is in a tricky balancing act.
First we all need to drink a big cup of common sense.
I think even if we have to wait out the entire month of April , our economy will quickly recover. People are eager to get back to work, but it’s best to show the prudence of waiting a little longer. When it is all restarted, I expect the president will do so in portions, a few industries or a few localities at a time.
Those $1200. Trump Checks will be helpful, but being one time payments, they won’t go very far. I’m fine with it. I don’t expect any more for myself. Most recipients will probably use the checks toward their rents, so they won’t be ‘ejection-seated’ out of their dwellings as soon as regular rent is once again expected.
It’s mostly to keep the unknown infected from spreading it, the type of mask matters little, a scarf would do.
There is a balance, but you did hit on the most important thing at the moment and that is a successful treatment regime. There is a lot of data coming in daily on this regime and potentially others and I feel confident that in one to two weeks time we will have confidence that we can successfully treat the illness on a large scale (I am there now).
A vaccine will be many months or even over a year away, but having a successful treatment, potentially having a prophylactic for healthcare workers and first responders, and continuing to practice social distancing and good hygiene will allow us to get our economy moving again.
The damage to our economy has been great and severe. It will easily be comparable to the great depression in many ways, but there are some critical differences - the fundamentals are still good despite being downgraded, the pull of manufacturing jobs from China (pharmaceuticals) will happen, and most importantly we have a terrific President who has assembled an amazing economic team around him.
While I am deeply concerned about our debt, there will be a kickstart if the President can prevent Pelosi and Company (and many republicrats) from turning the infrastructure stimulus bill into Porkulus II. Go ahead and wrap your head around another couple of trillion in debt folks because it is certain Trump is going to move forward on this immediately.
We can turn the corner on this and get back on our feet, but it has to happen soon. I hope and pray it will be within a few weeks and have not lost confidence in our nation and our President. A few more weeks will be bad, but it will be necessary to change the outlook and keep our curve as flat as possible.
Sigh. DeSantis just issued a mandatory stay at home order for the entire state (except for ese rail services, whatever those are). This will put the final nail in the coffin of just about every business here.
My guess is that he has discovered that there is no way he can stop the influx of people from out of state, many of them potential carriers.
So shut down the entire state to keep them from spreading the virus.
Today in Glen Allen, VA I was in the takeout line at a local McDonalds. Near me (but at a legal 6 foot social distance) was an African American construction worker (seemed about my age - 60+). Without my initiating a conversation, he volunteered his opinion of the significant shutdown of our economy by Herr Northam. His opinion was this: “This shutdown is evil. It is positively wicked to prohibit productive, legal work. Millions of people have died to acquire and preserve our freedom and I am sad that so many people are willing to give it away for an illusion of safety.” He also confessed that he has become a rabid Trump supporter and remarked that the government officials mandating shutdowns are insulated from experiencing the cost of their decrees. Seemed to be an interesting “man on the street” nugget. Wish there had been a news organization there
If we had serology, we could allow folks who’d already been exposed back to work.
We need the dang blood test.
Yes. The current situation is unsustainable. The government cannot support 320 million people indefinitely.
The engine that drives prosperity is having as many people working as productively as possible. Right now, we are in a recipe for disaster, and if it isn’t corrected real soon, it will be a long lasting situation.
Ya, let’s all go back to work while the predictions are 50k to 75k per month dying with our current mitigation of staying home in place. This is just getting started. So sick of this retard flubro crap.
