This is the shocking moment a huge line of police officers were forced to disperse a little girl's birthday party in Los Angeles on Saturday. Footage from the incident taken in the Hyde Park area shows the group of around 40 revelers refusing to comply with social distancing rules. Law enforcement were forced to call for back up as the crowd became 'agitated', a source said. The LAPD said no arrests were made.

The justification for this is that we won’t “overwhelm” the health care system. Infections don’t need to be reduced to zero to not overwhelm the health care system. These guidelines trying to stop absolutely every form of social contact are ridiculous. Just reducing the most high-risk events is all that is needed. And that should not include personal gatherings that would never require a license to engage in like a business would.
The Pennsylvania governor is now talking down the “models” that predicted the health care system would be “overwhelmed.” He says many models shows it now won’t be in Pennsylvania. Granted he’s attributing that to social distancing in part, but they’ve really set up a perfect scam for themselves. Claim a crisis is coming and then when it doesn’t happen, claim your measures to prevent it succeeded.
These mass shutdowns were driven by overblown, inaccurate “models” from the beginning. This virus or ones like it may certainly come back. And this mass curfew nonsense cannot be accepted as the normal way of dealing with it. Any reasonable approach would say you base a policy on shutting down the most high-risk areas of transmission like concerts, ask any companies to work from home who can, put out guidelines for people’s personal behavior such as wearing masks and standing apart and washing hands, and most importantly, use contact-tracing and testing to find and quarantine the sick, not the healthy.
Anyone who thinks a reasonable approach includes sending police to raid a family birthday party is a radical fascist.
I can’t relate. Anymore.
Nice try troll.
If they were Hispanic, there was alcohol involved
Ah, you are correct. I need to re-study my Ebonics...
In this area its Hassidic Jews who refuse to follow quarantine
What difference does the color of the jackboots make?
Indeed, and STOP signs and traffic lights are instructions to be followed, as well.
I am about as independent as one can get, ask my wife, but be assured, common sense has all but disappeared when it comes to panic and pandemics. But yeah, gg, keep up with the gatherings if one so desires, but spare me the phuking complaing that no one warned you or told you to not do so, just ask the Louisiana officals that are blaming the Federal government for not ‘instructing’ them to cancel Mardi Gras.......
Nice turn out for a one year old baby party. I wonder what the Vegas odds are that one of those 40 people was Baby Daddy?
Government officials have to be complying with the constitution to have authority to issue instructions.
And common sense plays no part, gg.
Definition of quarantine: “a state, period, or place of isolation in which people or animals that have arrived from elsewhere or been exposed to infectious or contagious disease are placed.”
Please tell me how the term “quarantine” applies to this situation.
As far as I can tell, the response to an infectious disease has never been to imprison the entire population in their homes. That’s probably why the word “quarantine” has no definition on record that applies to this situation.
This confrontation would not have taken place, if only the folks in the video had respected and obeyed their police officers.
Well said!
I didn’t watch the video. I object to police officers being sent to break up a birthday party in the first place. The idea of the government outlawing a peaceful, private family gathering is obscene. There is absolutely nothing about this pandemic that justifies that.
Did you see the celebrities packed into the audience at the “IHeart Radio’s ‘Living Room Concert for America” the other night? Where were that cops busting that up?
Please point out to me an article, section or amendment that states that the first amendment can be disregarded by any local, state or federal official. Let me save you some time, there is none. You need to read and study the document. I know you have not.
I am not condoning what they’re doing with violating social distance. Just their spirit in obeying only reluctantly, resisting. They’d make lousy concentration camp guards.
I wouldn’t call it nonsense. Contagions are spread in large crowds. It makes sense, but it also makes sense to consent only under duress to being corralled and herded like cattle.
