I think many here don’t take care of their elderly family members and rather put them into facilities like nursing homes and consider that normal. Those of us who care for our elderly family members in our home, like what is normal to us, have a hard time understanding why conservatives, family values etc. people rely on the government and anyone else to care for their elderly family members as we would.

I think a lot of older people, boomers and those after the boomer generation, put their parents into nursing homes like parents put their kids into daycare.

I would have never put my parents into nursing homes regardless of how wonderful they pretended to be. Nor did I put my kids into daycare. Why would anyone do that? and still pretend to be a conservative?

I think a lot of young people are appalled at how our society just puts our elderly into homes, nursing homes, assisted living facilities.

Why is it ok to send our senior family members to nursing homes/facilities?

I think a lot of older people, boomers and onward, think it’s ok to just put their elderly family members into “homes” and then expect our youth to care.

If I’m gonna die anyway, I’d rather spend my life with those I love.

There are far worse things than death. Every Christian knows that.

Well, you’re just stupid.
Amazed, frankly, that someone would post such banal nonsense.
Looking for attention I guess.

Did it ever cross your mind that the Govt would ‘PAY YOU’ to take care of your parents or your parents get GOVT money for YOUR kids?

I realize there are some good ‘foster homes’ but how many are out there just for the ‘payday’.

Interesting point made on another ‘string’ about how ‘they’ are threatening jail and fines if one doesn’t buckle down to the Govt orders of ‘house arrest’ BUT the same ‘govt’ is releasing PRISONERS from jail because of the ‘beervirus’...

MADNESS!!!!!

Well, I’m a boomer and when my Dad had a stroke, I brought him to live with me and took care of him for the next 5 years. The only requirement I had was that he co-operate with the Physical Therapist.

It was essential that he have the muscle power to help with transfers from the bed to the chair etc. He was 6 ft. 4” and weighed close to 200 lbs. I could not have managed him otherwise.

And I’m a boomer. So I don’t take kindly to your characterization. And just because someone is in a nursing home, doesn’t mean that the family did it. Hubby’s Mom decided that she wanted to move to a home as she kept falling and didn’t like having to call her son to help her.

Both her daughter and I offered our homes, but she declined.
In addition, Hubby’s brother and sister-in-law chose to sell their home and move to an assisted living facility.

I also understand that neither of my children are financially able to quit their jobs and take care of me or hubby should something bad happen to us.

Judge not everyone by your prejudicial perceptions.
