A hospital doctor died of Covid-19, announced the director general of the regional hospital center of Metz (Moselle). Sixth of this profession to succumb to the coronavirus, he counted among “a little more than forty hospital staff” of this hospital to be infected, noted Marie-Odile Saillard, Monday, March 30. Among them, people also placed in intensive care, but “also sick people, but not seriously ill”.
He is the sixth hospital doctor to die from Covid-19, eight days after an emergency doctor from Compiègne, two doctors (a gynecologist and a general practitioner) from Haut-Rhin, and two general practitioners from Moselle and Haute-Saône had been killed.
A baby in the US died a couple days ago. NY just had a child.
How many other children have died in the US is anyone’s guess since we aren’t testing.

Do you think the effective suspension of our Constitution evidenced by the extraordinary and unrestrained powers self-granted by the governors of the various states to quite literally control the lives and property and restrict even the most basic liberties of the people of their states under the mantle of "protecting public health" and "it's for the collective good" for an expanding and in most cases undefined length of time is warranted by this virus?
Before answering, I ask that you consider this question with the understanding that with respect to these governors's growing authority and in consideration of the penalties including arrest, fines and implied incarceration faced by citizens who violate the new and expanding proscriptions that are being issued each day by these governors -- no new law has been enacted (that is, the legislatures are not meeting); no crimes have been committed against laws that are currently in place; and no trials have been held (that is, the courts are not operating)
Equally critical to consider before responding is that once the the threat posed by this virus has been mitigated to, I suppose, an "acceptable level" (not sure how that will be determined and by whom), how will the constitutionally-limited powers of state executives be restored? Do we rely on their integrity and good intentions to "self-rein in"? That sounds damn risky to me. From the actions -- not intentions but actions -- of some of the governors -- specifically the vile (a carefully selected descriptor) actions of the despicable governors of Michigan and Nevada who commanded that a drug determined to be effective against this virus is prohibited in their states from being administered or even prescribed by doctors to save the life of their patients in the name of "protecting public health" while these governors continue to allow -- allow! their state's abortion clinics to continue to function as an "essential medical service". We must rely on powerful people like these two heartless governors to restore our liberty? Are you kidding me?
You can tell I'm quite concerned about what is happening to our Republic even though I understand the current threat this virus poses ... and I would appreciate your thoughtful response to the original question I have posed. Cheers & regards.

Yes, though slower and later than some more upscale commuter towns on the train line between the 2/3. That’s why I am thinking it is more workers at the supermarkets, and on the front lines otherwise.

47 new COVID-19 cases in Singapore, including 31 local cases

SINGAPORE: Singapore reported 47 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday (Mar 31), bringing the total number to 926.
Of the cases confirmed on Tuesday, 31 are local cases with 13 linked to existing clusters or other individuals. Eighteen remain unlinked.
Sixteen cases are imported, including eight that had travelled to the United Kingdom. The rest of the imported cases had travelled to Australia, Canada, Denmark and Indonesia. One long-term pass holder had travelled to Malaysia.
All but one of the new cases are Singaporeans or permanent residents.
Of the 420 patients who are still in hospital, 22 are critically ill in the intensive care unit, said Health Minister Gan Kim Yong. A total of 208 patients have been discharged from acute care and 295 have been transferred to “step-down facilities”, he added.

Three more Marylanders have died from the new coronavirus, bringing the total number of deaths in the state to 18, according to the state health department.
The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Maryland has risen to 1,660 as of Tuesday, the day after Gov. Larry Hogan issued an executive order requiring residents to stay at home except for essential activities, state officials said. Tuesday’s total represented an additional 247 cases in the state — an 18% increase over the previous day.
I have a clipper set. I started to try, but I was not liking the results...lol.
