I think it varies according to location. There are hot spots with lots of cases, and places where there are none or few. I”m just reporting what I see in twitterville. Very different in different areas. One case in my county, for instance.

I agree with you, it depends on the area.

Good friend who is an EMT in a suburb of Portland, Oregon said they are slammed and he says "it's real".

A friend needed to take his grandmother to the hospital in Spokane, WA to have something done to her port (?) having to do with ongoing cancer treatment. When she called to make the appointment the hospital said "do not come here" and transferred paperwork to a rural hospital 40 miles to the north.

One more...relative in large, metro area of NC tried to take grandson to the ER (crashing on bicycle) they wouldn't even let them in the ER. She threw a fit, hospital aid/nurse came out. She said parking lot was close to empty but they are not letting visitors in. Told her to go to a rural hospital ER that was about one hour away.

All anecdotal but all people I trust. Take it for what's worth.
