I am curious to know if you have heeded any of the President’s requests to stop the spread. Do you stand 6 feet from others in grocery stores? Have you made an attempt to stay home as much as possible? Are you being responsible?

I am curious to know if Flu Bros are sort of like Spring Breakers in Florida who believe they are immune to COVID-19 and prove it by licking toilet seats.

“They allowed the virus to spread to weaken their enemies. “

As transmissible as this virus is, they didn’t have to allow it to do anything.

PA:

One of the reasons that Nixon opened the door to China was that he believed if he could tie our economy to China in a web of interdependence, then war between the two countries would become unthinkable.

There was then (and of course is now) a segment of Chinese leadership that resented that arrangement and was prepared to go to extreme measures (including risking national suicide) to break away from what they viewed as an American “trap”.

So, my view is that the Chinese leadership is not unified. Many of the leaders enjoy the wealth that trading with the west has brought China.

It may well be that China has a “Deep State” problem just like we do, and of course their “Deep State” would control the bio-weapons labs.

Imho the majority of the leadership does not want to crash their economy so they can crash everyone elses—but now they are playing with the ugly hand they have been dealt—lie and blame everyone else for this disaster.

I am sticking to the greatest risk for bad outcome is abnormal glucose metabolism and elevated HbA1c. There is no such thing as pre-diabetes. It is diabetes based on the work of Kraft.

Orange County Reports 71 New Coronavirus Cases, 2 More Deaths; Sheriff Releasing Inmates Early

Of the county’s 321 cases, 75 residents contracted the virus through travel, 27 by person-to-person spread and 75 were community acquired. The remaining 73 cases are under investigation.
Most of the cases, 134, have been reported in the 18-49 age range...

Orange County Sheriff Don Barnes announced he would be releasing low-level offenders with less than 10 days remaining on their sentence and inmates who the CDC defined as medically vulnerable.

Santa Cruz County Health: COVID-19 surge “will exceed bed capacity”

Newel said she’s expecting the surge to begin within the next two weeks. It’s in line with a recent study from The Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), an independent research center at the University of Washington quantifying global health challenges.

The IHME said the peak of the virus will come April 24, and while the state has enough hospital beds for their projections, the state is short about 300 intensive care units.

They project the United States’ peak resource use will take place April 14, and the country is short 49,292 beds and 14,601 intensive care units.

Coronavirus Pandemic Update 44: Loss of Smell & Conjunctivitis in COVID-19, Is Fever Helpful?

There is new evidence that loss of smell (anosmia) may be an indicator of COVD-19 infection. New reports also suggest that COVID-19 may cause conjunctivitis (pink eye), and be potentially spread through contact with the conjunctiva. Dr. Seheult discusses evidence about how untreated fever may be beneficial for fighting viral illnesses such as coronavirus.

... and of course then we get even MORE posts that would make ol’ Friar William of Ockham roll over in his grave, and likely deserve addition to a list of examples of Occam’s Razor.* I sometimes wonder if some of our posters are self aware.

*Some of these are pretty good & make for a much needed smile:

- - - - - -

“Some examples of Occam’s razor include the following:

• One of the fence posts is broken.
Of possible explanations a) An albino moose, lost on its quest for its squirrel best friend, crashed through the fence in despair, or b) An old nail rusted through, “b” is more likely.

• The tire on the car is flat.
Of possible explanations a) The screw stuck in the tire wall let the air out, or b) Serial tire-flatteners sliced it open with a laser scalpel, creating an imperceptible hole, then inserted the screw in another part of the tire to mark their victory, explanation “a” is more likely.

• It is raining and I saw a bright flash through my curtains.
Of possible explanations a) lightning, or b) UFOs are trying to pull my roof off, explanation “a” is more likely.

• A student failed the statistics test.
Of possible explanations a) The student needed to study harder, or b) Malicious textbook publishers put wrong answers in the study guide in hopes of sabotaging future statisticians, explanation “a” is more likely.

• A car rear-ended another in highway traffic during rush hour.
Of possible explanations a) The driver was distracted by the phone in his hand, or b) The driver was distracted by an elephant on the side of the road, which ran away before anyone else could see it, explanation “a” is more likely.

• A loud noise is heard in an apartment that is next to a busy highway.
Of possible explanations a) The surface of the highway cracked due to an unprecedented volcanic event, or b) A truck backfired, explanation “b” is more likely.

• A man has sent several text messages to his wife over the course of a day, and she has not responded.
Of possible explanations a) her phone ran out of battery, or b) she is maliciously ignoring him in revenge for an error on his part that he cannot remember, explanation “a” is more likely.

• A woman is nauseous several hours after eating at a restaurant.
Of possible explanations a) She may have food poisoning or b) Her long-dormant fetal twin has awakened and begun to move, explanation “a” is more likely.

• A roast beef in the oven burns to a crisp after being in the oven for only one hour.
Of possible explanations a) A sleepwalking neighbor came into the house and turned up the oven temperature, or b) The oven’s temperature gauge is wrong, explanation “b” is more likely.

• A dog owner comes home to the trash can tipped over and trash is scattered on the floor.
Of possible explanations a) The dog tipped the trash can over, or b) Someone broke into the house and sorted through the trash can, explanation “a” is more likely.

• A ball rolls out into the road in a residential area in front of a man’s car.
Of possible explanations a) Some children are playing ball and it accidentally rolled into the road, or b) Some children are rolling balls into the road deliberately, in hopes of wrecking cars and looting the remains to prop up their tottering lemonade business, explanation “a” is more likely.”

Well, ok, the one about the wife might be 50/50.

NYC

Lack of information in the projects is putting citizens at risk. We were just saying the other day, let’s mobilize the youth and give them some self value. Distribute hand sanitizer. Clean the elevators, make little toothpick thingies to use on the buttons. Let’s go, NYers!! Solve the problem, Save some lives. (everywhere !)

:

New York City Public Housing sits like a ticking time bomb as the spread of Coronavirus continues. As COVID-19 cases in the city increase exponentially, New York’s poorest residents are left with little information or support from NYCHA.

MADRID -

Some 15% of Spain’s healthcare professionals have been infected by the coronavirus.

The country is now on course to overtake Italy as Europe’s coronavirus epicentre.

Patients lie on the floor as they wait for treatment. No beds.

Spain blames fans traveling to Bergamo for the Atalanta Valencia game on Feb 19. The city’s mayor called the game the bomb that exploded the virus. Patients ‘dying in our hands but in complete solitude’..I’ve never seen so much fear in the faces of the patients or the health care workers”

Right. And the early Chinese response is very simply explained by incompetence and CYA. Much like our CDC, I’m afraid.

CANADA

Nobody likes their Parliament. Govt Overreach. late to the party on travel restrictions

8:50min in,
border issues between Canada and the USA - Canada “strongly opposed” to the US proposal to put troops on the border- would lead to a ‘lack of cooperation’ on Canada’s part - no discussions at high levels. Came out of discussion for troops on southern border. Does Trump/Pence/Pompeo even know of the proposal? Is it just a ‘crazy idea’ floated by a reporter that Canada responded to?

It’s not a weapon. I figure somebody was fiddling with it in the lab, and then he or somebody else spilled it. It could have been in study for a vaccine, as some people have speculated.
