Ive been hearing a couple of people mention melatonin, but I dont understand why its on peoples lists. Could you educate me, please?

Not necessarily specific to surviving COVID-19. I take 3 mg melatonin most nights at bed time, seems to help for drowsiness. Particularly helpful these past few weeks, due to intermittent anxiety when trying to sleep, just due to the news and uncertainties, etc.
