Updated US numbers:

Total cases: 85,268
New cases today: 17,057

That means we will probably reach the 100,000 case milestone tomorrow.

Total deaths: 1,293
New deaths: 266

There has been a lot of misinformation on the thread today from some folks due to some recent faulty studies out there.

I would encourage anyone and everyone to watch the last two Chris Martenson videos.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCD2-QVBQi48RRQTD4Jhxu8w

If folks understood what Chris had to say there would be a much more informative discussion here imho.

There is a lot going on, but we really need to get general agreement (if at all possible) on a baseline of data and factual information.

Thirteen sick crew with COVID-19 symptoms evacuated from cruise ships to Miami hospitals
By Taylor Dolven
March 26, 2020 11:08 AM

Sick crew members with COVID-19 symptoms evacuated from two cruise ships to the U.S. Coast Guard Base Miami Beach on Thursday, March 26, 2020. The Costa Favolosa and the Costa Magica ships each have about 1,000 crew on board. By Al Diaz

Thirteen crew members in need of life-critical care from two cruise ships were evacuated to local hospitals in Miami Thursday with COVID-19 symptoms.

The ships — Costa Magica and Costa Favolosa — lingered three miles offshore as lifeboats transported sick people to the U.S. Coast Guard station adjacent to PortMiami. Decked in hazmat suits, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue workers helped the people off of lifeboats and into ambulances.

3/4 - My evidence to Parliament referred to the deaths we assess might occur in the UK in the presence of the very intensive social distancing and other public health interventions now in place.

4/4 - Without those controls, our assessment remains that the UK would see the scale of deaths reported in our study (namely, up to approximately 500 thousand).

MEXICO

With obesity and diabetes epidemic, Mexico braces for coronavirus
by Reuters
Thursday, 26 March 2020 20:30 GMT
By Stefanie Eschenbacher and Adriana Barrera

MEXICO CITY, March 26(Reuters) - Four of the six people who have died from coronavirus in Mexico so far had diabetes, raising alarm bells that a country with one of the world’s highest rates of the condition may be more vulnerable than its relatively young average age might suggest.

The World Health Organization has said people with diabetes and its related health complications are among those most vulnerable to severe cases of the highly contagious and sometimes deadly illness caused by the new coronavirus, along with the elderly.

Mexico has the fewest retirement-age citizens among nations belonging to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). But it has the highest rate of obesity after the United States, and related illnesses such as Type 2 diabetes are widespread.

Mexico had 475 confirmed cases of COVID-19 - the illness caused by the virus - and six deaths by Thursday. Four of those who died had diabetes and two suffered from hypertension - both conditions that can exacerbate the illness. A seventh Mexican who died in Peru also had diabetes. While four of the victims were over age 60, the other two were 55 and 41.

anyone care to guess what another option could be besides widespread community spread?

Interesting scenarios.

I am getting concerned that political leaders (especially US and the UK) may “let the virus free” in most of their country as soon as Easter.

If that happens I would expect an explosion of cases in May that will cripple health care systems everywhere in both countries—and deeply stun the public—put them into a deep mourning and psychological depression.

That would presumably be followed by brutal lockdowns (unless masks were _finally_ available for everyone).

Masks can be the game changer—if they are available and socially acceptable/required.

I'd be thrilled if the US has only 80,000 fatalities from the Wuhan Virus in the next four months. It could easily be 200,000 because we lack sufficient hospital beds, ICU beds and ventilators. We'll have more in the fall and enough by the end of the year.

This first wave will be grim in terms of deaths due to insufficent medical care.

I got some bags of flour and pancake mix today and they put them in a cardboard box for me.

When I got home, I opened the hatch to the SUV and let the sun hit them for a couple hours, then turned them all around so it would get the other side.

Closed it up and locked it and will deal with it in a couple days. sitting in the car at these cooler temperatures is not going to hurt it.

BTW, I’ve seen the info about how long the virus survives on different surfaces. What about regular paper, like mail or cereal boxes, etc? I know cardboard is about 24 hours. Plastics and metals are longer but nobody says anything about coated paper.

That is why I am enjoying being locked down in “dangerous” CT.

It feels very safe here.... :-)

Trump seems to be betting the farm on mass antibody tests showing far more people had Wuhan Virus without knowing it than people who have or had symptoms.

Obamacare is going to kill many. We have insurance care and not medical care now. Medical staff are just expendable under the current system.

I can still see the following map with the Brave browser. It also tells the story of how the epidemic is spreading here. In some ways, its much like a social disease spreading to quieter parts of the country from the usual suspect states, as we saw in the past with venereal diseases.

Wow.

The German Embassy has just recommended that all German citizens who are currently in the United States return home as quickly as possible.

That... tells you a lot about how badly America is handling the pandemic.

That... tells you a lot about how badly America is handling the pandemic.

That's one possible reason. I think the more likely reason is that Germany will "lock down" borders further and cannot guarantee citizens can get back for some time after a certain day.

But sadly, who’s going to hold them accountable?

They’ll get away with nothing more than a *That wasn’t nice. You shouldn’t do that.* from everyone else.

And we’ll all just roll over like the wimps we are and let them get away with it again, and never learn our lesson.

THAT is why we as individuals need to be prepared for ourselves and NOT depend on our very traitorous government.
