A Queens Uber driver passed away from the coronavirus Tuesday morning more than two weeks after he stopped driving to avoid contracting the deadly disease, according to his family.
Anil Subba, a Nepalese immigrant in his 40s from Jackson Heights, died at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday morning at Elmhurst Hospital, his family told The Post.
Subba checked into the hospital about two weeks ago, according to his cousin Munindra Nembang. He had been hooked up to a ventilator for about two days before he passed, with no contact with his wife and three children, ages 22, 20 and 11.

RIP.
LOL...it’s been the news headliners, for weeks.
He suffered underlying conditions.
Due to co-morbitities.
Yada, yada.
Look back over the news reports of China Flu deaths, over the past weeks, and there you will have it.
NY cases are (possibly) proving different. Much younger victims/patient groups, than previously seen.
Possibly.
Poor guy could’ve caught it, even before he knew/stopped driving.
"Nembang, an Uber driver as well, told The Post his cousin stopped driving for-hire during the first week of March after transporting a sick passenger from JFK Airport to Westchester County."
“just as the Vietnamese seem to have a genetic resistance to it”
Must be generations of breathing all that Agent Orange.
A lot of people are jumping to a lot of conclusions, without enough facts.
[It says he came from Nepal.]
....or having a strong genetic resistance to malaria-like illnesses due to where they have lived for 100s of years.
Interesting that the ventilator didn’t keep him breathing.
Uh, welcome to FR? LOL....
Well, not just here.
WAS HE TREATED WITH HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE?
If he wasn’t treated with hydroxychloroquine before death, lawsuit city.
I have no idea. I’m not sure what that has to do with his death being very sad.
In NY the cabbies a lot of the time are foreigners. I dont know how long that guy was in the country but those communities often have people new in the country or going in and out of.
I would not take a cab in NY right now.
They would have zero chance of winning.
Although a doctor can prescribe a drug off label, he could not be held responsible for a bad outcome due to not using a drug off label.
If a drug is not approved for use against a given pathogen a doctor is not under any requirement to consider its use in a case where that pathogen is present. Most doctors will not prescribe a drug off label (other than anti-biotics which far to many do).
I don’t understand why this malaria drug wasn’t started right away on the worst cases. I heard about it a week ago on Laura Ingraham.....I’m willing to bet if those were relatives of politicians in hospital, that drug would have been fed into them so fast it would make your head spin.
And now some vile dems are downplaying this drug because the president has some hope in it. Absolutely disgusting. Beyond disgusting. I thought I read that the governor of Nevada has outright banned it’s use for CV19. It would be wrong of me to hope he gets it, so I won’t.
I wonder if he received the highly promising 6-day course of the hydroxychloroquine & azithromycin drug regimen as treatment for Covid-19 before he declined to the point he was placed on a ventilator. Almost certainly not. Hell it may well have prevented him from going on the ventilator. That would not have fit with Governor Cuomos agenda.
Now, with Cuomo DECREEING no more of that treatment unless the patient is in an approved clinical trial, things will go more Cuomos way.
