Thread #25 here:

Those are some tasty dogs sometimes...
Panic behavior during an epidemic. It makes things worse.
“That is part of why opening the economy isnt as easy as it seems...Folks were allowed to visit her and get their take-out ice cream, and they were having none of it...”
We have a higher-end restaurant that we often walk by. At the beginning, they tried to go take-out only, but then gave up. Now they’re flat-out closed. People didn’t go there to be handed paper boxes for $40 each.
(not a comment on the policy, just noting the effects, as you did too)
Can you do one with Chicken Pox too? Its just as relevant.
If you are still comparing this to the common flu, you just dont understand how any of this works.
People honestly dont know when they have the flu.
If you are not in bed, flat on your back...you dont have the flu. You dont have Covid. You have a cold.
(Not You, but the third person you.)
“If you are still comparing this to the common flu, you just dont understand how any of this works.”
The FluBro crowd is surging, backed by that Oxford study. They may win.
I’d assume they are preparing their arguments for the carnage we are about to see in New York in terms of how to explain it. I suppose it will be the usual whipping posts.
I don’t think they can hold out for long, but I guess they can buy some time. 3 to 4 weeks maybe? They obviously want a bigger initial spike.
I know most of the FluBros on here don’t really understand, they are just parroting what they are getting from their trusted sources.
But, there has to be a group of people with money who are pushing this narrative, and I think they do know what’s going to happen. They’ve just decided it’s the best case scenario in the Pandemic for them.
Fat people are at risk for everything. Except starvation.
Oprah did not have this last year. This was still in a bat in a lab last year.
“This is exactly what I told the FluBros touting SKs former 0.7% DCR as their just the flu conclusive evidence, never mind that it was still 7x the average flu CFR and those people had a whole country on a war footing to help them.”
Actually, I’m at the point of totally ignoring numbers, other than deaths and total infections per country (and only to some extent) - and I don’t care who posts them (although almost always FluBros, to justify their rationalizations). Testing is so inconsistent that it’s a waste of time. I look more for what’s happening in the field - are hospitals overflowing, do new drugs work, etc.
While I can handle numbers at least as well as most people here, I simply can’t trust their accuracy. For example, what good were numbers and trends in the US for the past month when we were rejecting the testing of people who, almost certainly, had the virus? What good is it now, with some states still saying they are limited in testing?
I’ll trust the numbers from SK, Taiwan, Singapore, and Hong Kong, but that’s about it. They don’t seem to have the same requirements to get 20 government agencies and 6 Environmental Impact Reports written prior to being allowed to field testing kits.
You sound like Trump.
Attitude is important. I guess.
We will see.
“I doubt that Desantis has any smart plans like that.”
Eventually his donors will start to drop out too, due to their age. At that point, perhaps some new blood talking to him will help.
I have a brother who texts like that. When my kids were in grammar school they used to read them with enthusiasm. Of course my wife and I would tell the kids not to make fun of their uncle....but it was hilarious!!!!!!!!!
It will be interesting to see how often the flubros patrols stop her. I have to go get my wife from the hospital today. I will need to go through 3 checkpoints just to get to the door to pick her up.
Honestly, I have gotten onto flight lines at an active AFB with less clearance. (That was back when we were in the Cold War.)
LOL!
If they are past the two week mark and OK, then likely they never got it.
If I may offer a correction here.
*Sick* is not the right term.
*Evil* is.
“How are we supposed to get our populace to agree on measures when we have Oxford and Imperial College saying two completely different things? Makes it difficult.”
I’ve learned from studying diabetes and the Keto Diet that people who produce studies are almost always either answering to someone with an agenda attention seekers. That simple.
He nailed it on Oxford - at most 10% of the people they are testing in the UK have it, and those they are testing are the 1% of the population (actually less) most likely to have it in the first place.
Honestly, I dont care about them.
They are unicorns playing outside the Ark. they could disappear, and it would rid the gene pool of stupid.
Is he up for re-election?
Because whenever that happens, people need to use that as an election issue.
