“A factory in Wisconsin pushed back introduction of new, lower-priced concrete pumping machines - crucial to staying competitive with other producers - because it cannot obtain spare parts from China to support the launch. A cosmetics company in California delayed a new beauty line, because it cannot get imported packaging. And a Michigan appliance maker postponed ad campaigns for some new products that will not arrive at retailers on time.

“The result is delays, not cancellations,” said Mark Bissell, chief executive of Bissell Inc, a leading maker of vacuums and other small appliances, describing the delays in getting some new appliances to market in the United States.

These delays hit even before the conoravirus outbreak began closing factories and disrupting supply chains far beyond China, including in the United States. Bissell, for instance, recently learned Malaysia was putting a two-week hold on any goods coming in or going out of that country.

Bissell Inc manufactures in Malaysia, but it relies on parts from China. “We’re scrambling to see what options we have,” Mark Bissell said.”

Immunity after recovery from COVID-19? Yes, but…
Immunity would only last as long as the coronavirus does not mutate.

SAN DIEGO — News 8 viewers have been emailing the station asking an important question: If you get COVID-19 and then recover, are you immune from getting it again?

We spoke to Dr. Robert “Chip” Schooley, an infectious disease specialist at UC San Diego, to get some answers.

So, can recovery result in immunity?

“The evidence we have is that people will be immune after a bout with this virus,” Dr. Schooley said.

But there are few caveats. First of all, you need to completely recover.

“You should probably wait for about two weeks from the time of your symptom onset to assume you’re good to go in terms of coming out of self-isolation,” said Schooley.

Good news: The immunity does not depend on how serious your symptoms were when you were sick.

“We think that people who recover from mild illness are just as protected as people who recover from severe illness,” Schooley said.

Another factor is the strength of your immune system. If you have an underlying condition that weakens your immune system you may not be protected.

Another key point, immunity may only last one or two years depending on how fast this new coronavirus mutates. Dr. Schooley says most coronaviruses do mutate over time.

“The other coronaviruses have been in the human population for up to 800 years. Those viruses are different enough in the environment, or around us, that you can get reinfected every two or three years. And that’s why you see these infections coming in waves,” he said.

More good news: Two years from now, if a new strain of coronavirus does hit, it probably won’t be as devastating.

“You could get reinfected and usually when that happens the disease is less severe,” Schooley said.

In the end, immunity itself can be a big factor in fighting the virus.

Thanks. I'm concerned about people who say this is a disease of the elderly to make them feel better. As the data comes in I think we will see a condition known as thin outside and fat inside (TOFI). Low BMI and insulin resistance is found in 34% of the elderly. This correlates with frailty and dementia too.

If people just fasted for 14 hours a day and ate in a 10 window, they would be taking the first step in improving their health.

Interesting thoughts on Wuhan and immunity.

Yep, but the numbers tell a different story (subject to something changing).

In the line graph below, if the New deaths / Total deaths number = 25, the number of dead doubles every 3 days. If the number = 20, every 4 days. If the number = 15, every 5 days.

As I mentioned previously, the number of dead in the US today increased by about 100, after I created the first graph which I posted. The graph below has been updated to include the additional deaths.

It's late, I'm tired, but I believe this is right.

Yeah, it’s late.
I think I addressed that point: patients are not being treated. Not effectively. And they could be- or not.
Yeah, without effective treatment we’ll be just like other countries.;
