That almost makes me want to get behind the wheel and put my foot through the carburetor as I flew down a straight stretch of SoDak farm road at 120+ mph.
Those big ol’ cars could go on forever, and never a bump was felt.
I’ll save the 100mph+ runs for proper highways, went 135 on a rural 2-lane road before. Past 90 the center line was getting too close to the right shoulder. Past 120 the shoulders were getting too close together.
I used to have a time slip from a local 1/4 mile track. After dropping the Detroit Locker rear-end in it, I took the Olds out to the track. Ran her on 108 octane race fuel with street slicks, etc... After playing with various timing/engine things... Her best run was 12.3@127MPH. Not too shabby for a 4500lbs door-slammer that I drove to the track.
... and that was in High School. Kinda makes me a little nervous what I could with what’s in my head now... :-0
