I just put a cheeseburger pie in the oven, and in the making, it smelled very good! So we’ll see how it turns out in another 20 minutes. But no dessert.
Sounds like Patrick suffers from the “I-don’t-want-to-learn-so-don’t-teach-me” syndrome. Time for The Mom to take a break. If he asks, just tell him you’ll resume when he’s sure he wants to drive on his own.
I went for a walk with DP instead. It’s a nice day here. I bought a picture at a garage sale; I’ll send a snap in a minute.
Pat has to be at work at 2:00, so I think I’m going to take a day off driving.

The cheeseburger pie is done and looks and smells delicious! I’ll freeze portions of it, and the next item will be a recipe for funeral potatoes before it was called funeral potatoes. The recipe is large, but I’ll cut it in half. I’m not eating nearly as much these days as I was when I was depressed. ;o]
Just feeling up to cooking is a milestone. I used to love it but like so many other things, I lost interest in it.

I think I’m probably not going to make it too much longer. I’ve been trying to find things to do to keep me busy so I can resist the desire to sleep. It’s almost overpowering, so I don’t know how I’m going to stay up as long as I normally do.
I’m going to go cover the meal dish and stick it in the fridge, and that way, if I fall asleep, it won’t spoil.
Nope...not gonna make it. I’m outta here, and I hope I get some decent sleep tonight!

In spite of numerous interruptions by each of my Favorite Children I managed to rack up almost 13 hours of sleep. I think I could still be sleeping but the alarm rang, so here I am. Very tired.
But I AM here, and it IS another day! :o]

The shower has been had, and yesterday’s mess has been contained, as well as another recipe re-written so it’s readable, and another tea dose has been drunk. I don’t know yet how I feel, but I have three hours to decide if I feel up to going to church.
I’m having a little trouble breathing this morning, but I got a new inhaler yesterday, and hope it will help. all the ones I had either expired in June or will expire next month. I keep one in each room and one in my backpack, but now, I only have one.
Still, we’ll see how it works. We still have smoke from fires, either CA or CO and WY, so until they’re all put out completely, I’ll have trouble breathing.
It’s like I said before, if I turn down the volume on one notifier, it turns down the volume on all of them. If I shut off the phone ringer, it shuts off all sounds. If I turn down the text alerts, it turns down the alarm.
I’ll have to see if I can get into it a little deeper and re-set the volumes at the default level.
Favorite Daughter was talking about the fires, and I asked if she had a bug-out bag ready, and no, she didn’t. (I saw a bug-out bag thingy at Walmart yesterday of a four-day pack with meals for two for $43 and if I’d had the money, I would have gotten it!) I told her that the time to prepare for a disaster was before it happened, but she knows this. She just panics.
And Favorite Son sent photos of their day-trip to Northern Arkansas to enjoy the sun and mild weather. They made the trip in their VW — one that he had restored. :o] I didn’t see two of the pics until I got up because they came in later, when I was in the dead part of sleeping.
I was able to go back to sleep after all of them, so it was OK.
Have you considered getting an alarm clock? I have a little $5 electric one that goes beep-beep-beep at 0500.
It’s a little chilly this morning. Jake is all fluffed up on the doormat by the garage door. His coat is really beautiful this year; maybe it’s the kind of cat food we’re getting.
Actually, I have two alarm clocks, battery operated, but I don’t know how to set the alarm on either one, and when it’s been done accidentally, as when I change the batteries, the sound jars me awake and it takes me an hour to get my breathing back to normal.
The alarm on my phone is a gentle chiming sound. Enough for me to hear it, along with the vibration on the wood of the nightstand.
It’s down in the 50s again, with a low of 50° and a high of 85°, and I’ve had to add a throw to the bed. I think the mattress pad is finally dying. It doesn’t feel warm when I get into bed.
When you sent pictures of the castle in progress, I noticed how sleek and healthy Jake looked. And of course, Shannon and her new sylph! ;o]
Shannon used to have a magnificent coat, but since she’s started spending so much time outside, she looks more disheveled.

It’s 51° right now, and I’m thinking, as I do every fall, that I think I’ll never be warm again.
Do you ever do an work at voting stations? Because of my address, we have vote by mail (senior community) but I wonder if I can just vote in person.
I used to be a campaign volunteer and would hand out information for my state rep at the polls, but I haven’t done it in quite a while. Being an actual poll worker would mean a whole day away from my “real job,” which is hard to negotiate.
I plan to vote in person.
