I’d rather just sneak up on them and whack them with my walking stick. (Which I hope I’ll be able to get as soon as the DD comes in!)

My daughter and I watched Margaret Rutherford as Miss Jane Marple in “Murder, She Said.” A 1961 vintage film. I don’t know how old Ms. Rutherford was when that film was produced. I can see Face in that role.

So no sooner do I deposit the “stimulus” check, my computer keels over and dies.

Aw, drat. Look for a refurbished, unless you absolutely, positively NEED a spendy brand spanking new one. That’s what I do. The certified refurbished are pretty darn good!

Floofy kitteh is so squee!
Good morning.
The DD came in during my night (your evening) and I was going to be up at 0200 to pay the bills and do whatever else I could do online, and I woke up about two hours into my sleep and couldn’t relax enough to go back to the dreams.
As a result, I slept in two hours, and the bill paying is looming, and will do so until I get back from Walmart. Unngh.
By the way. I’m cuter than Dame Rutherford!

I ordered a replacement motherboard, processor, memory, and a better video card.
Windows 10 can transfer the license key to the new hardware....if the version I have meets certain criteria.

Excellent! I was hoping perhaps you had inherited some of your father’s electronic gene-iuses. ;o]

My last two computers I put together myself.
The motherboard that died was an MSI 970a-g46 board.
Dad had a twin of it initially.
It died last year and he rebuilt it and then put the jinx out:
“Well kid, my board died. Don’t be surprised if yours does too.”
He was off by about one year on that.

Well, I’m glad it didn’t happen sooner. I wish I knew how to do all that stuff, but some days, I can’t even qwertyuiop right.
I hope you’re up and running on it soon!

I understand it fine.
Lol.
I have to wait about two weeks for all the parts to get here.
One is international shipping, ugh!
Could have had that one rushed to me...for an additional $165 shipping.
As it sat, international shipping is at $75 because there was no on hand stock in the US and other sellers had it for twice what I was paying for it even with 75 tacked on.

To: Darksheare
Yep. I know exactly what that’s like! Some companies think they can gouge us with shipping because there’s nothing else available.
Some of us are resourceful, though, and have ways of getting around the game-players.
Good luck on your parts-hunt!

Already found the parts.
Now it’s just waiting for them to get here.
Ugh
