It is Sunday! It didn’t rain last night, so I hope Epic Fail can not only finish the front yard adequately but also do some of the back.

A Little Golden Floof!

Good morning.

We only got up to 96° yesterday, and will be 98° the next two days, and 100° the next two, then because of possible rain, it will drop down to 89° the next two days.

My power bill came in and the company who is doing their collecting has already taken it out of the grant. But as soon as the DD comes in I’ll send them a token amount. I want to stretch that grant for as long as possible.

There is a very old, very campy John Wayne movie on, and I think that’s the cue for me to shower! BRB!

I like it better when I can make my own decisions about when and how to pay bills.

As do I. I’m grateful for the grant, of course, but I’m still going to pay on it, so they will have to reverse whatever amount I’ve paid and put it back. Just because I don’t like the fact that they didn’t even wait for the due date to take it out. Bestids.

For some reason, this round of the tea has been difficult to keep up with and I find myself taking the pills more often than the tea. They all work, of course, but I like the tea so I can use the local honey in it and help my allergies. Only a few more days, anyway, and I’ll be done until just before my trip.

I just gathered up the mess I made yesterday, and brought out the felt kits. One of which (Christmas stocking) was started in Del Rio, of all places, and the other (wreath) was started when I first moved to Henderson. However, since I want the Advent calendar for Christmas, that will be the first project, then the stocking. The wreath is pretty, but I’m using my yarn wreath, for now. Which is probably a fun project for Scouting, now that I think of it.

I just found the pattern, and though it calls for bulky yarn, I used worsted weight on mine. Did it in green with little blobs of red throughout, and put a red bow on it.

Cute! We get a real evergreen wreath each year. The Boy Scouts used to sell them for a fundraiser, and now the Knights of Columbus have the project. (It’s the same guy running it regardless.)

I’ve seen them done in red and white stripes with a quarter section of it done in blue with white spots and a red-white and blue-spangled bow. Really cute. They can be adapted to any occasion.

I’d love to have a real wreath, but they’re not in my budget.

I buy them for my choir members, too. The Knights’ fundraiser is to support programs for the mentally handicapped.

Support for programs for the mentally handicapped is an international Knights of Columbus priority. In some states, they have built and staffed group homes for adults with Down Syndrome. They’re huge supporters, with money and volunteers, of the Special Olympics. Each State Council works with local Councils to identify specific ways they can contribute.

Our most recently departed former resident came by to pick up the title to the car passed on from DP’s late mother. Now she’ll have to figure out getting it licensed in NC and pay the transaction costs. DP and I paid off a loan (at 45% interest) that his mother had taken out, and my mother seems to have paid for some repairs. Whatever, I say, if it promotes the former resident’s permanent residence elsewhere!

Do I sound like I’m still mad? I am, but only occasionally.

The K of C in Henderson gave me my bed, after my Real Brother contacted them in CO. I have a soft spot in my heart for them, and have had for a good many years. Since I was a child, even!

I’m very happy to know that Down Syndrome is one of their programs.

When I worked for the bus system in Vegas, we had daily bus service for the kids who worked at a place called “Opportunity Village,” where they were taught how to do simple jobs (depending on their mental and physical abilities) and I often rode the bus with some of them. They were the most fun!

They loved getting paid and taunted each other about the bottom lines on their checks. Even 3¢ was a matter of great fun!

You just go ahead and be still mad. The longer you’re mad, the easier it will be to remember why she is no longer a resident.

Our local Walmart employs a number of intellectually-challenged people. The more that can be done to employ everyone who wants to work, the better!

Vlad and I both got all the questions right on our Jeopardy calendar. He’s keeping track of the winner each week, and at the end of the year, one of us will get a prize. Other family members sometimes play, but not consistently enough to win much over a year.

I don’t like being mad. It’s tiring, and it makes me want to eat.

"I don’t like being mad. It’s tiring, and it makes me want to eat."

I misread that. I thought it said "It makes me want to cat."

Carry on.

And that’s why I went out in the back yard, sat under a chair for an hour, and then chased a squirrel up a tree. #WayToCat. Then I went to bed for 18 hours.

The morning floof wants to check and make sure you really are a cat!

Good morning.

The laundry is done, except for hanging the shirts, and the bills are paid. Tomorrow, I’ll go to Wally’s for some food things.

Once the shirts are hung up to dry, the only thing left in the way of work today is making the bed and sweeping up the Godzilla feathers that are everywhere. Even with three seed catchers on the cage, the feathers find their ways over the top 2” that aren’t covered. *sheesh* She’s nothing, if not messy.

Gonzo, in the small cage, only flips out the seeds he doesn’t like and the hulls of the seeds he does like. But the seed catcher for his cage should be here this week, so hopefully, I won’t be stepping on so many seeds.

Good morning. I am chivvying the youth participants through breakfast, so we can get started on cleaning the garage. Such excitement!

Happy Monday, all.

I walked over the proposal for the new digs with the realtor. I could take it or leave it. It’s a little cobwebby, but that’s easily fixed.
