I received a 2020 Census letter today. I live in NY and have no intention of completing the census; i prefer not to assist NY in any way- including filling out the census so they get more aid from Washington which they ten disperse to illegals, criminals, etc. The envelope claims "your response is required by law." What, if any, are the ramifications of not filling out the census? Thanks.
I had the same thought. Even here we often pick and choose which Constitutional principles we want to follow.
Prior to census, most all information was collected, maintained and organized by churches.
They showed up at my door a bunch of times last go around. Kept shutting the door in their faces until they just stopped coming.
“Its not a tool to aid social activists, “
Then WHY do they include illegal aliens in the count? They are not citizens, and some place like California has more seats in Congress due to counting illegal aliens.
I had two genealogy histories done; one for fathers side, one for mothers.
Most ALL of the information was found via churches where they lived, and Mormons also have a huge census data-base.
thanks
If you know for certain that the illegals outnumber the citizens in your district, maybe.
But if enough of your neighbors are like minded, you just might create a district that really does represent you!
Laws passed by the Congress, signed by the President. We have to follow those as well? Who knew?
Would you fill out the form if the $1200 govt giveaway was only to people who responded (pretty much US citizens)?
They haven’t prosecuted anyone for failing to respond since about 1970.
I originally put in “Earther”, but my son insisted a change everyone as US Citizen because that is the question they should be asking.
Ten years ago I put in Irish/Viking in “Other” and this time around they let you do that under “Caucasian”. From this, I surmise that a large number of people were eschewing the caucasian category in favor of Other where they then described their caucasoid ancestry.
I lost mine in a boating accident, tell them to send me another.
“I wrote American, I should have written Legal American, darn it!”
I live in the San Juan Islands, up in northwestern Washing-
ton State. For the last two censuses I have written “Pacific Islander” for my race and got away with it. I’ll have to do it again this year.
Perhaps, but if congress passes a law and the president signs it, and this law mandates everyone must wear a chocolate frog on their head, do we have to follow that law?
Actually, any sort of law may be passed and will be on the books until a legal challenge is successful, finding the law unconstitutional.
Just because a law is passed doesnt invalidate your rights.
Cheers
In the “other race” box I wrote American Citizen.
i live in a craphole blue state and a craphole blue area of that blue state- i will see no benefit from any money or services come in as a result of the census- it will go to those already parasiting off my taxes and illegals.
That is why i will not fill it out.
Ha Ha! That made me spew potentially dangerous Muhan-flu out of my nose!
The remedy for you is to bring a lawsuit, citing your Constitutional rights and asserting that responding to the Census violates those rights. If the Supreme Courts sustains your assertion, you’re good. If you don’t want to do that, do what the Democrats do and declare that your lawn is a census sanctuary and ignore the law, plus any other laws that you don’t like.
“The remedy for you. . .”
I make my own choices. . .I may engage engage in civil disobedience. I may not. At any rate, civil disobedience requires you ignore the law and be willing to pay the price.
The alternative is to wear the chocolate frog on your head or any chains the government wishes to place on you.
We, as Americans do not trust government, even fought for our independence to throw off those chains.
Individuals make a choice. Your call.
Cheers.
