Vanity:Don’t fall for the media’s attempt to drive a wedge between President Trump and Dr Fauci

Posted on 03/22/2020 10:38:25 AM PDT by hudsonohio

I know I’ll get flamed for this but I’ll go ahead and make these points anyway. I think Trump’s decision to make Fauci a visible part of his task force was a stroke of genius. If you read Fauci’s background he took his position under Reagan and is undoubtedly one of the world’s foremost experts on infectious diseases. He brings significant credibility to The Presidents efforts.

The media recognizes this and is trying to drive a wedge between Trump and Fauci. DON’T fall for it. He has given significant support to the President particularly regarding the decision to stop travel from China. Sure he wants to see a lot more data from clinical trials before committing that chloroqul will stop the disease. He’s a scientist and that’s what they do.

But yesterday when the idiots in press tried to get him to say he disagreed with the President he gave an excellent response. He explained the difference between how a leader of the country and a scientist would look at the available information. He the went on to say that he and the President were aligned on the need to accelerate the deployment of those drugs and intertwined his fingers to illustrate the point.

By attacking Fauci on these forums you’re playing into the hands of the media. You may wish he worded things differently. I get that. I sometimes wish Trump worded things differently but the President has my total support. Let’s do the same for Dr Fauci and not let the media be successful in their efforts to undermine the President and our country.

-- Pence contradicted Trump yesterday. Trump was telling the media that ventilators are complex, computerized machines. Pence got up there right after that and told them the machines are really kind of simple. --

FWIW, that sort of ultimate judgment (simple/complex) is nothing more than a personal point of view. I have consideralbe expertise in machine design and control, as well as in the cost and difficulty (or lack thereof) of making parts. My "simple / complex" gauge is different from that of other people.

Funny, I was just telling my wife, it’s relative. For GM, Ford, Tesla, not all that complex.

Still no reason for a VP to immediately contradict the POTUS like that.

"It depends." The ultimate outcome here is sufficient delivery of suitable goods, with "simple/complex" being a proxy. Trump was, I think, trying to be complimentary of companies for stepping up to make "complex" devices; Pence was considering delivery time and breadth of supply.

He’s a bureaucrat. He declared that valid studies were anecdotal and that he had to be 100% certain a drug would work. No drug is 100% effective, no scientific study is 100% certain. A stat 101 student knows that. If I were Trump I would fire him and find someone who isn’t so damn arrogant.

No scientists, chemists included, don’t expect an ironclad guarantee. If you took first year biology, chem and stat you would know that.

Fauci is a swamp creature.

The more the truth is acknowledged the better.

Have you read his love letters to Hillary?

Do you realize the scale of corruption on his watch over at the CDC/NIH?

I heard Dr. Dave Janda say yesterday that the constraining component on the manufacture of ventilators is a computer board from China. I guess that’s not too surprising.

I imagine more primitive ones could be put together in a pinch, but I am not so sure that’d be the direction we’d be going.

And likely both Trump and Pence are correct: relatively simple to put together if you have the components. (Or if you go primitive.)
