I’ve got to put my daughter to work on getting my old website back up. (The ISP itself got hacked a few years back and I never rebuilt my site on a new ISP, because I was too busy with my consulting work. Figured that as I gradually retired from the traveling, I’d “restart” - it usually takes about 2-3 years for such an enterprise to take off...) I’d better check GoDaddy to make sure my domain name is still valid!

Hey Paul - have you considered working as a dispatcher for one of the major trucking companies? A lot of them work from home, and there is demand.
I did find a CDC poster just now that said 167F “kills” the SARS virus - the Covid-19 is basically a slightly modified SARS virus. Although the poster didn’t say anything about time. It was some other official paper I read that I decided 200 at 10 would be suitable.
My wife forgot about it and it sat for a half-hour with no harm done. Paper burns at 400F. The plastic windows probably sooner though?
The first time I did it I didn’t think about the windows - so was glad they didn’t start a fire when I saw that they had melted.
Yeah - my wife (presently pre-school teaching, now from home or Mom’s!) home schooled our daughter up to middle school (stopped @ 6th grade) so she’d be good at investigating some of those options.
Some of the plumbing and electrical stuff I’d need a license for to go far (besides doing my own house / shop), but, who knows. Will have to consider it.
That last - yeah, we loaned Mom most of our savings to be able to keep her out of a nursing home (we have no room here); figured we could always get some of it back out of her house, but now - yikes!
Anyway, a couple more things to check, then call Wifey @ my Mom’s, then take my advice about the sleep! Thanks again for the words of support and ideas. (And to think I once almost flamed you a while back, but then held off!!!)

Unfortunately that won’t help until Mom is broke, aka they’ll get paid back with her house, and we loaned a ton of money to Mom - see above...
Our Asian population is about 5 million. As I said early on, watch the Asian communities because they know what’s what back home and they have tended more to social distancing. Back mid-Feb quarantines directly related to being stopped at the airports was in the neighborhood of 10k, so our airport guys have been worth their weight in gold.
I also think having airlifts to several bases helped heighten awareness of the Wuhan virus while the rest of the country wasn’t really paying attention. We’ve got beach ijits, and other ijits, and I don’t know what the infection rates will be from people panic buying, but more people I talk to are in the shelter-in-place mode than flubro mode.
This weekend, they set up testing in Lake Elsinore, which is 60 min from LA and 60 min from SD. We’ve had a few negatives prior to this weekend but have held steady at 22 cases for a few weeks now but not in this part of the county. I’m anxious to see what the drive-in results are for local folk. So far, they’ve done 400 some tests, according to the OC Register
What I don’t like is,
they are expanding the testing to a 50-mile radius from Riverside (town of) and bringing them into Lake Elsinore. This means people from south LA, Orange and San Bernadino counties to the north will come in, and, coming up, all the way down to Fallbrook in northern San Diego County to the south of us. And chances are some of them will get gas, or food, or visit convenience stores among the lookie-loo things to do. I sure hope we weren’t chosen because we lean Republican around here. It’s not like OC and San Bernadino don’t have parking lots.

Leave mail in a black mailbox in the sun for a day, if outside temp is 60 or higher (somewhat dependent on wind that day). Monitor: Several hours at 150 deg. F should more than do the trick. If you can put the mailbox (or a black bag) in a closed car in the sun with the light hitting the mailbox / bag, so much the better. Just make sure there’s nothing there that might melt. (I’ve never had a problem with any mail being damaged in a hot car. But I’ve seen plastic aftermarket speaker grills partially melt!)
Some mail can be run through a toaster oven on “warm” (~165-170 deg. F) for 20 minutes. More if one is truly paranoid, I guess. Preferably the elements never get red hot. Pre-heat and monitor the temp. though, and keep in mind some ovens have “hot spots”. Plastic window envelopes might be “bad” (windows might melt)? Have not tried, but, will, and will report back. **It works great on 3M N95 masks.** Keep a fire extinguisher handy in case of a mistake...
When one of my Mom’s then sitters “gave” her bedbugs a couple years ago, we used our old minivan as a heat treatment enclosure for about 20 heavy duty garbage bags of stuff, a few at a time. The heat will penetrate an inch of mail MUCH faster than a 39 gallon bag of bedding!
