My sister is a nurse in a Chicago suburb and is saying the same thing. No supplies. No protocols. Doctors refusing to enter patient rooms and making the nurses do everything. Management more concerned about covering their asses than supporting their staff. Shes in tears with frustration and overwork. Says shes quitting hospital work after this is over.
IL has 585 cases so far and they are running low on supplies?
Our local rural hospital and urgent care is short of equipment also. There have been several patients they were concerned may have had it but so far not. The staff are very jittery.
And its not just happening in big cities either. Here in Fresno, my dad is an NP in an urgent care facility and they are also having to reuse masks and are down to their last boxes of gloves with no ability to replenish in sight.
