CHINO HILLS (CBSLA) A sign outside a Chino Hills Costco alerts shoppers that they are out of 13 essential hygiene and food items.
For the past week, it has been hard to find items like water and toilet paper at any store across Southern California. Thats why the company is cracking down on panic buying amid the coronavirus pandemic.
While shopping carts are still stacked high at Costco stores across the Southland, customers say buying in bulk during the COVID-19 outbreak is starting to run a bit smoother.
This was my second time coming within the last few hours, said customer Sheryl Caline, adding that she came back to stock up for her family. I had to call my sister, see what she needed.
In Montclair, theyre using pallets, traffic cones, and construction netting to line people up outside and control the crowds inside the store.
Costco stores are also limiting the amount of essential items customers can purchase and prohibiting the return of recently hoarded items, including toilet paper, paper towels, sanitizing wipes, water, rice, and Lysol.
They shouldnt take returns! Caline said. [Those customers] overbought.
Robert and Tina Kinder, two more Costco customers, said they feel like stricter rules earlier on would have significantly eased the transition into this pandemic.
It kinda puts them in their place, Tina said of the new rules. Like, you cant be doing that! Taking advantage of people during a national crisis.
They say that all will work out if we look out for one another and respect the new rules, like the stay-at-home orders issued by Gov. Gavin Newsom Thursday, during this uncertain time.
I think its just important to do family time right now. stay home, Robert said.
Well, the supermarket is slowly getting back to normal where I live and there are limits on certain items. The larger stores here (central NH) have added early morning hours for seniors as well. It will be ok.
Here in Boise, Costco is limiting TP and paper towels to one per customer.
Still?
“6 days ago I put up this vanity...Would you support a Trump request for Walmart, Costco etc, to implement purchase limits?”
I’m still shocked by just how long us non-FlueBros had to stock up...even as inventory was depleting. Stupidity on the part of the stores, but worked out great for me!
Because lots of people are buying for others. I went out the other day for my daughter. She has 3 kids at home now since the schools shut down and by the time she made it out of the house the shelves were stripped bare. Her youngest has a good old fashioned cold and they hit 3 drugstores on her side of town and not 1 pack of Children’s Tylenol and she had 2 doses left. So I went out and hit the drugstore and 3 different grocery stores to get what she needed.
We raise chickens, and I typically have plenty of eggs. We have a gal that buys all of our eggs each weekend, typically about 12 dozen and she sells them to her neighbors. Last night my MIL called for eggs for herself and for her MIL. Then the gal who buys every weekend called to come get the rest.
So now their accelerating their egg buying and my girls won’t be able to keep up with the new demand. Were just coming out of winter and their not a full production yet.
America is a nation that has, for the most part, turned away from the Triune Creator and embraced ideologies ('new' pagan worldviews) instead.
In application, in rejecting God man rejects God's Ten Commandments and by default, turns back to the ancient depraved view of man as subhuman with notable exceptions: those humans who through inner evolution are the closest things to gods--a 'new' Brahmin caste.
In a nutshell, the depraved view of man is a license for its practitioners to take what they will and the hell with subhumans.
Wait until the bread basket middle America needs to restrict sales to New York and California markets.
Everytime I collect our 3-4 daily eggs from our little coop I smile. We just had a nice four egg omelet.
Wow that’s scary
Southland Place Limit On Essential Items To Curb Coronavirus Panic Buying.
Yeah after they made a killing on a full sell out now try to sound like they are helping.
Looks like Vons,Ralphs,Wallmart and the rest give a wink.
Let’s see, the government and media tells everyone that they are going to die and that the government must shutdown the country, but the media then runs these types of stories to say people are panicking for no good reason.
Feel stupid yet?
I think the no returns on high-demand items is a great idea. The downside is people will be gifting hand sanitizer and soap for years to come.
From 2011, but pertinent now.
My sister and I were talking about cartoons of Washington’s troops crossing the Delaware, or the Pilgrims coming on the Mayflower, bitching and whining like the fraidy cats are now.
“...and leave nothing behind for the rest of us.”
So you going to be a Prepper now?
I’ve had to use my prepper, aka hurricane supplies of bar soap, liquid hand soap, disinfectant wipes and hand-sanitizer due to the locusts. I’m good for the better part of a year. I was heavy on them because I believed sanitation would be the #1 priority which was a lucky confluence for this situation. I’ll just restock when this is over.
Costco is way past when everyone else was placing limits on items. It’s all about the $$$$$$ for them. Boo. Every tp is bought in the first 5 minutes but the 100 customers waiting outside will still come in and maybe buy something while they’re looking for tp.
Her youngest has a good old fashioned cold and they hit 3 drugstores on her side of town and not 1 pack of Childrens Tylenol and she had 2 doses left. So I went out and hit the drugstore and 3 different grocery stores to get what she needed.

I have been going to Target in search of cold medicine.
I am talking about the cold medicine made by Target...
I have not been able to find any...All sold out...
I might have to go to a Rite-Aid store to buy some cold medicine...
non-FlueBros?
I have no idea what that is, but thanks.
One of the many empty shelves at my local Wal-Mart used to hold salsa. Hoarding salsa? Fer Chrissakes.
Yes it was odd that Aldi’s had plenty of milk and bread and zero eggs. 2 per customer limit on all three.
