I read about the pattern of selling/etc and it seems fairly consistent, not necessarily connected with the info. I don’t know of course.
For fouled anchor tradition you can blame the Royal Navy. The history of the fouled anchor dates all the way back to the original seal of Lord Howard of Effingham who served as Lord Admiral of England during the defeat of the Spanish Armada in 1588. His flag:

Don’t know about FB and could not read any more on the link other than what I copied, so I don’t know who/what suggested it. I just searched the French, remembered it was some poem I read long ago (a depressing one of course) and realized what you meant!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chanson_d%27automne
“Chanson d’automne” (”Autumn Song”) is a poem by Paul Verlaine, one of the best known in the French language. It is included in Verlaine’s first collection, Poèmes saturniens, published in 1866 (see 1866 in poetry). The poem forms part of the “Paysages tristes” (”Sad landscapes”) section of the collection.[1]
In World War II lines from the poem were used to send messages from Special Operations Executive (SOE) to the French Resistance about the timing of the forthcoming Invasion of Normandy.

Re NSA has a huge data center just South of Salt Lake City, not underground however.:
Thank you for clarifying that, TWW.
It’s a shame we can’t use the Defense Production Act to make muzzles and corks for use on the loudmouths in the press!
Oh my Gertrude. His wife’s boyfriend is NOT going to like that all over the interwebs.
Then, please, if the fouled anchor means that Marines “suck” at seamanship, what is the symbol for the USN Chief Petty Officer?
That the chief is stuck teaching all the landlubbers how to be proper sailors :)
Go Navy - Beat Army !
That the Chiefs suck at it too that's why they are in leadership?
While sister services, and the Marines are part of DON (the men's department) squids and jarheads are totally different animals. We translate Navy sh!t the way we do as part of a usually congenial rivalry. As a squid yourself, with your experience, you should know this. No offense intended, usually.
Why don’t you stop posting me, venizelos.
You have no reading comprehension and I’m not going to read and respond to all your misstatements.
Have a nice life.
Never was a “Squid”...just a “Bubblehead”
(and a “Jarhead”)
This is great stuff, Pete; but, I prefer a different explanation for the wine-dark sea and the rosy fingertips of dawn as reported by Homer.
I think the sky was a different color then. Hence the sea reflected a different color. And BTW the Earth also had rings (like Saturn) within human memory.
Things were different in the past. There was, in fact, a “Golden Age.”
Im partial to calling them shims
But shims are useful, DH uses them a lot in his projects. I prefer “s/he/its” is it covers everything except “them” and they don’t like it when you call one a s/he/it for some reason.
you are only coming through in waves

As for the Naval Officer's crest, the Eagle is the United States, the shield is for protection and the fouled anchors represent the Navy. Hence, the Navy is the shield that protects the United States.

That's my story and I'm stinking to it.

Yeah, so I gave you the second line. When they heard the first line they were sipposed to prepare, when they heard the second line it meant the invasion was on.
