Lucky for me, I'm too poor for all that stuff. My most recent investment was buying a builder's transit level made in the 60s that was the last of the well made and really cool looking surveyor's instruments and is still considered a very functional transit. It will never lose value.
I've got a Delta/Rockwell table saw from the 40s that weighs 300 lbs and is smoother and quieter than anything you can buy at a home improvement store today.
