I had a patient one time, family guy 35 several kids, contractor, hardly drank, didn’t smoke had an appendectomy with a complication so they put him on antibiotics and the guy flipped. I got a call from the State Hospital where he was locked up. Not even kidding.

The nation is, and always has been, what the people say it is.

No, we are not a “democracy,” but we are. As Paul Johnson said of Reconstruction in the antebellum south when the Union troops finally left, “the United States was a democracy after all,” and the southerners were gonna do what they were gonna do.

In this case, according to Ras, Trump is supported by over 60 and often over 70% of the people in the measures he has adopted.

We are still in the discovery phase of determining the numbers of infected through testing. It is reasonable to have a rapidly increasing number of infected as testing catches up with a backlog of those presenting with symptoms. In a not too long period of time, some propose another 7 to 10 days, the rising curve will break the current exponential uptrend. At that point it will assume the characteristic of a logistic function (S-shaped curve.)

On it’s own or as the result of the efforts we are making? I mean, of course the curve will flatten out eventually, even if that takes everybody getting it. You think it will flatten out naturally in the next week?

Are you suggesting the elderly ( over 60), those with underlying medical conditions like diabetes, asthma, copd, heart ailments, kidney disease, liver disease, obesity, cancer survivors, HIV infected, possibly pregnant ( who had higher risk during H1n1) autoimmune disorders, etc should just “man up” and perish for the good of continuing “ our way of life”?

Since protecting us is wrecking the economy and curtailing your freedom to dump your kids in school all day, go to sports games and concerts, eat out and go on vacations?

Sure sounds that way

.

Silverleaf:... What if “ recovery” consists of reducing the viral load to undetectable levels....

Recently released German study reveals some surprising results, among them;

"Everyone tested positive day 1-5, with peak viral load 1000x that of SARS. Researchers believe the higher viral load might explain the higher infectiousness of COVID compared to SARS. Patients can have high viral load even with mild symptoms."

Most concerning - genome sequence from upper & lower respiratory tract (lungs) showed independent mutations of the coronavirus. Experience in China is that the coronavirus only infects lower airway (lungs) but this new study shows that the coronavirus might be gaining the ability to infect the upper airway as well through mutations (as 7 out 9 patients had upper airway symptoms ONLY).

“Coronavirus may cause testicular damage, male infertility, research finds”

This may explain some government’s hair on fire approach to this.

The concerning observation is right now the deaths in the US are doubling every two days.

It took 40 years to realize the Spanish Flu could cause Parkinson’s.

If true would influence my belief that it might be a bioweapon.

Kill the over 50’s and sterilize the youngsters.

The ‘bloodless victory’ the PLA has been touting via the use of bioweapons.

I don’t. I believe when the seriously ill present with this disease the people who see it are shocked. When they suddenly see a lot of it they become alarmed. That is what happened in China. I fully expect the freepers who are also doctors will confirm this in the coming days.

I also believe this is why we are hearing ridiculous proposals like treating the mildly ill with harvested antibodies are suddenly being taken seriously.

We just don’t know what the ramifications will be if it’s natural. Mother Nature cooks up some horrid stuff. Hell, if it came from a lab, on purpose, man’s incompetence could turn out to be a blessing.

Meaning the accidental release might be a blessing vs. the intentional release in 100 of our largest cities at once?

The problem with this plan, “pumping the brakes” is that the ultimate “total # of infected” is far higher than the “shut it down until it’s burned out”. It might be impossible at this date to limit the total # of infected but we have this little window of opportunity to try.

No, i mean if it’s an engineered virus there’s a least a chance it will break. Human incompetence.
