Study: 86 Percent Infected with Coronavirus in Public Are Undetected
Breitbart ^ | 17 Mar 2020 | PENNY STARR

A study released on Monday from the journal Science shows that a shocking 86 percent of people in public settings could have “stealth” cases of the coronavirus, showing no symptoms but infecting others.

“It’s the undocumented infections which are driving the spread of the outbreak,” study co-author Jeffrey Shaman of Columbia University Mailman School said, according to GeekWire.

The New York Post reported on the study:

Using computer modeling, researchers tracked infections before and after the Chinese city of Wuhan’s travel ban.

The findings indicated that these undocumented infections with no or mild symptoms — known as “stealth” cases — were behind two-thirds of the reported patients.

“The majority of these infections are mild, with few symptoms at all,” Shaman said, the Mercury News reported. “People may not recognize it. Or they think they have a cold.”

“It will continue to present a major challenge to the containment of this outbreak going forward,” Shaman said, and added that it underscores the importance of restrictions on movement to try to slow the spread of the virus.

“So not all that sick, right?“

Right.

Now make sure to stay home, shut down everything in sight, throw away the constitution, and possibly destroy through neglect all that Americans have been working towards from the beginning, cause you know, you could possibly pass on that thing that isn’t making you sick.

Nothing about this seems to make sense. There’s a piece missing from this puzzle.

But we have deaths from respiratory illnesses of unknown causes that you have to factor in along with the total of 43000 mentioned. They mention deaths from known covid confirmations but then they try to slide that in with the 43000 total estimate. You have to figure a death rate that included deaths from unknown viral causes as being possibly covid caused.

How many resolved cases though....(both the recovered and the dead)? Most of those 5600 or so are still sick since the cases mentioned only came to light in the last 10 days with more coming. If you havefor example, 1000 totally recovered with 98 deaths but still 4500 still sick then the death rate ongoing is 8 per cent. But I don’t think we have that many officially recovered yet so the mortality rate is going to look much higher initially as the weak, old and infirm seem to be all taken out earlier while the more hardy that will recover haven’t recovered yet.

The mortality rate if it stays constant in terms of it’s dynamics will push downward as more people recover than die, even though there will be those who will and are yet to die from it. Total numbers of both will increase but the curve of the recovering will rise sharply upward against the curve of the mortality rates which will flatten.

If it’s undetected, how would they know?

They won't. It's all B.S., but that's not really the point. The "stealth patient" is a rationale for more unconstitutional power grabs.

We now live in a nation of abject pussies.

And that won’t go unnoticed by those who mean to use it against us.

".... This is the biggest fraud in the country's history....."

I had pneumonia from mid-September until mid-December this last fall. Within days of recovering from it, I got a flu-like illness and the pneumonia again. Unlike the first pneumonia, I went to the hospital because I had a fever and could hardly breathe.

My doctors pinned it down to a viral respiratory ailment of unknown origin but were never certain exactly what I had. They sent me home and gave me instructions to hydrate a lot, take acetominaphine for the fever, sleep as much as I could day and night, eat soup for nourishment and to take breathing treatments using a nebulizer to help clear my lungs.

I spent the next few weeks following their instructions and eventually I recovered. Viral pneumonia with flu-like symptoms they eventually diagnosed my with. But in speaking with them a week ago, they suspect I had this coronavirus before it was identified in the media and the panic started. The symptoms were identical to this virus and the treatment turned out to be the same.

I think people are overblowing the danger of this virus with a mass hysteria fed by the MSM and the democRATS who want to pin this on Trump as his Katrina. Many people who have it don't know it or feel sick and recover. Most deaths are from the aged with other health issues that impair their immune systems from fight the bug effectively.

This is no the end of the world as we know it. But we could do more damage with the government's solutions than the damage the virus will do itself. A crashed economy. Small businesses unable to keep their heads above water with no way to pay the bills. Employees out of jobs because their employers folded. When this is over and the media has moved on to some other 24/7 news cycle story, people will look back and say, "What were we thinking?".

I am 72 and have completely recovered but I have been around the block enough times to know that much of this has been driven by politics and the hatred of Trump. When Obama was president, the swine flu killed 200,000 people but not so much as a peep out of the media about how dangerous it was.

This flu will be beaten like I beat it myself and we will move on but at what cost to our economy and society?

For example, sixty to sixty-nine-year-old passengers stayed healthier than teenagers. And three-quarters of the oldest group, those over eighty, didn’t get the virus. Go figure.

It's interesting. It occurs to me that older passengers are probably a bit better off in terms of the cabins they get... fewer in interior cabins, more on the upper decks with balconies and outside air. It is beginning to look like air recirculation and sharing is a factor on the spread of aerosols. Maybe the relative amount of air recirculated relative to cabin type should be correlated against infection rates.

This is the biggest fraud in the country's history.

Which has been noted by quite a few commentators over the last couple of weeks.

Off the top of my head, Dr Drew. here in LA has been most vocal about the non-issue. Additionally, he has been front and center facing Eric Garcetti's allowing drug addicted, mentally ill adults to live on our streets in Los Angeles.

And you have to factor in the reality that the estimate of the number of untested infected is just a WAG. There is just too much unknown. A lot of the policies that are being put in place are being driven by nothing more than fear of the unknown.

But life is risk. If you’re not risking, you’re not living. Obviously we live with all sorts of deadly risks, including infectious diseases, and accept them as normal, and go on with our lives. But tons of people die because of this insouciance, every year. How do we bear it?

I’m not saying to do nothing, far from it, but rather to have some perspective.

So, if you’ve got it, but don’t feel it, with no affects, what exactly is this all about ?

Nothing. Nothing except carrying the disease to elders who are at much greater risk. That should be the focus.

I chronologically qualify as one of those at greater risk, but still believe this is massively overblown. Certainly not worth shutting down the country and ruining life savings and the economy.

When people hear “confirmed cases” they stupidly believe that all cases are known. Very few people have been tested, very few. The confirmed cases are appearing to be those with symptoms. Many people may have had this virus months ago and it passed by them with little to no symptoms.

This places the death rate far, far lower than simply using confirmed cases to dead as a ratio.
