I suspect nothing terribly unusual is taking place on the medical front.

Then you don't know anyone in the "medical front".

I got a first-hand update from a medical professional within the last 48 hours. Three things I came away with from that conversation:

1. This person hasn't implemented any special measures for his own family members that he hasn't been doing already for years.

2. This virus was probably in circulation for far longer than is being reported ... probably since last summer.

3. Two of his extended family members probably had it three months ago, and didn't even know it.
