You don’t need or want the money, and I don’t need or want it, but I am sure there are others who do need it. I am thinking of restaurant workers, for instance, and others who don’t get paid if they don’t work.
Assuming most people are honest, grocery shoppers who can afford it are buying grocery "gift cards" for checkers to quietly offer to fellow shoppers who may need a helping hand.
I thought this was a great idea. I live in a pretty cool town.
