Technically, many are correct to use the term “our democracy”.
The Executive office is the ONLY office not directly elected by mob action (AKA, democratic majority). All other offices in the Federal, State and municipal polity are majority wins except for the Federal Judiciary.
:) Conceded... but that is never what those folk are referring to; they mean our Soviet Democratic Socialist Republic... that sort of thing. The Soviet constitution meant as much then as ours does to these folk today.
What they want desperately is to eliminate the Electoral College... then about six urban counties in all the wrong places would run the whole country. I think that is what they mean by 'our democracy'.

A pure democracy doesn’t protect the rights of a minority.
Elections: Democracy includes non-citizens. Republic includes only citizens.(though that’s changing rapidly here)
I’m sure there are more differences and are getting harder to find.
