My MIL gave me a killer recipe for buttercream frosting (she got from a little old lady at her church). I’ve used that for birthday cakes for years now. One year, when my youngest was about 10 or so she wanted one of the canned frostings (there was a unicorn on the can or something, with sprinkles). So I did that. When she ate the cake, she gagged and scraped all the frosting off. LOL.
Granny recipe buttercream for the win.
Ha! Love it.
Had similar thing happen when oldest wanted to start baking. She wanted to take the easy route, and use box/canned stuff.
We all had to have a piece, but she realized that the canned/box mixes weren’t worth the time...or effort.
Reminds me of my disillusionment when I tasted supermarket “black raspberry” ice cream. We used to go to a dairy farm to get our ice cream when I was a kid. It was our Sunday drive. The cows were out in the back and you could smell them. Black raspberry was my favorite.
I think it was called Knoll’s Farm or something like that. Out near or in Clifton, NJ.
