Had similar thing happen when oldest wanted to start baking. She wanted to take the easy route, and use box/canned stuff.
We all had to have a piece, but she realized that the canned/box mixes weren’t worth the time...or effort.
Take a can of plain sauerkraut. Rinse it and chop the larger pieces into med sized pieces. Dump it into a dark chocolate cake batter. That or a pineapple angel food cake is what I make for my birthday cake. Easier to make my own so I have what I want.
