Smells like FUD and rumor.

I know how serious airborne transmission is, but for something that important, the control room personnel would be on the highest priority list for those to be issued protective gear.

There aren’t THAT many nuclear power plant control room workers compared to MDs, for it to be an impossible burden.

(France gets 70% of its power from nuclear power plants. What are THEY doing?)

French nuclear power plants are standardized, particularly their control rooms. Control room staff can be freely switched between plants based on need, so they won't have our interchangeability problem at all. My recollection is that 75% of all French electric power comes from their nuclear plants.

Plus the one thing that is standardized among American nuclear power plants is the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and, being feds, they hate, loathe and abhor anything that makes sense. So much for American nuclear power plant control room personnel getting priority for the types of PPE they most need. It's called the "Speed of Bureaucracy".
