Is anyone seeing runs on supplies like toilet paper, bleach, etc.?
I was at the grocery store yesterday the TP aisle was pretty much cleared out. Most household cleaning supplies were available although bleach was limited.
Believe it or not hand soap/sanitizer was available in limited quantities.
Rest of groceries looked to be good.
Needed some alcohol for a painting project. Had to buy a bottle of Vodka.
Vodka worked fine and I enjoyed the project a lot more!
People are confusing wiping your arse with washing your hands. Damned public schools!!!
I broght up my last package from my basement so I was one spicy burrito night from disaster. The next day I went to the store to stock up and supplies were sparse except for the store brand. We still have standards here.
Is that you, Hunter Biden?
I think they called them “therapeutic papers” back then. The main concern was splinters.
My local CVS had hand sanitizers and wipes set out in the mornings for as long as they last, at one to a customer. I could also buy rubbing alcohol and aloe in large containers there, as of yesterday.
Eastern NC...Wal-Mart neighborhood market had plenty of water and TP yesterday morning...only a few bottles left of liquid bleach...clorox wipes and hand sanitizer shelves were empty as well as all other cleaning supplies (409, greased lightning...etc) same thing at Food Lion on Tuesday...best laugh I had all week was the middle age guy down on all fours in the store checking to be sure there was nothing left on a bottom shelf...by the looks of his cart, he was definitely a hoarder!
We are in western Pa about 60 miles east of Pittsburgh. We were in Walmart several days ago. We are always stocked up on things so not there panic buying, just some things we needed. I noticed the toilet paper aisle was not bare, but lots of empty spaces. No bleach to be found. Tuna and canned meats were low. Pasta and rice both empty areas. Mostly the cheaper Walmart Great Value brands sold out. We were at Sams Club last week and toilet paper and paper towels were flying out the door. Long lines at the checkouts. More than usual. The regular flour was sold out.
That's because Americans never had to prep in these modern times. The United States has the greatest transport infrastructure in the world and as we have seen with natural disasters like hurricanes, earthquakes, winter storms and whatnot, food and other necessities are rushed in. Private capitalist companies like WalMart, FedEx, Amazon, UPS, etc, have just incredible logistics to move stuff around.
Now I know that the dying MSM hypes up all of these events and gets people scared. Even today, when there is threat of a winter storm, the media goes into 24/7 frenzy and causes some folks to rush to the supermarkets in a panic. But nobody is going to starve. In fact, our biggest societal problem is obesity so many of us can well afford to miss a few meals. Not that that would happen, unless something like a comet hit the earth and killed us all. In which case, it wouldn't matter how much you prepped.
I don’t understand the run on TP either, but this Twitter feed about it is pretty hilarious!
#toiletpaperapocalypse
BTW I'm not a prepper, but I do have an adequate supply of ammo.
Tulips,
Yup!
They work in a Pinch!
People must be BLOATing because I have heard that ammo is in short supply, too.
You can use gun cleaning patches if you run out of TP. This is a trial run for a Bernie presidency.
Killer Comets !?!
Wheres My TP?
Yes, flour looked like it had been dropped on the floor and dragged to the register. What was left looked like monkeys had tossed around.
Why flour? I don't get it.
I started laying in supplies a few weeks ago and have a good month of food, medicines, etc. Never crossed my mind everyone would hoard TP. Fortunately, I have plenty as our local stores are all out.

I did the same when I first heard of the virus. We did not buy anything we would not normally use, we just stocked up more (turning a book case into a pantry).
The only extra was to be sure we got “flu” medicine and more aspirins as well as disposable gloves.
We are good for about six weeks as is, but will continue doing weekly shopping until we need to self quarantine.
