Gavin Newsom wants California to be its own nation-state in the Trump era

SACRAMENTO — Just five weeks into the job, Gov. Gavin Newsom has crystallized his vision of what California will look like in the Trump era: It won’t just be the hub of the resistance against the president; it will be its own nation-state.

But before Newsom can create a country-within-a-country, he had to defuse two multibillion-dollar grenades that his predecessor, Gov. Jerry Brown, left in his in-box: high-speed rail and the delta tunnels project. In proposing Tuesday to scale back both of Brown’s unpopular legacy projects, Newsom hopes he can preserve enough political capital to get his own legacy projects on the fast track.

If he can do that, he can lead California down its own path for as long as Trump is president. California must go it alone, because Trump’s portrait of America is “fundamentally at odds with California values,” the governor said Tuesday in his first State of the State speech.

Newsom said the president has “described a country where inequality doesn’t seem to be a problem, where climate change doesn’t exist, and where the greatest threat we face comes from families seeking asylum.”

So California, as the world’s fifth-largest economy, is going to be a counterweight, a West Coast enclave built on its own values and funded, in part, by an anticipated $21.6 billion surplus.

So while the White House is “laser-focused on destroying the Affordable Care Act,” as Newsom said Tuesday, he proposes that California offer its own health-insurance subsidies to families earning up to $150,000. He wants to expand Medi-Cal coverage to all Californians, including undocumented immigrants, until they are 26.

California is a sh*thole colony and reverting back to territory status of the USA.

“Hey, maybe Gavin could become President for Life in the new country of California.”

...and put the Hell’s Angels MC in charge of security.

Oregon is OK with this, as long as we can build a wall on our southern border.

"Pity those poor Californian families scrapping by on $120,000/year."

If you consider how much it costs to actually live in California, this is probably equivalent to a minimum wage income.

They are hugely dependent on capital gains from stock sales.

Leftists simply do not realize how dependent they are on Federal Reserve, fiat money, manipulated interest rates and massive debt - goosing capital markets and the S&P500. This cheap money does not flow evenly around the USA, it pools in particular places, like Silicon Valley, where there is a confluence of companies, real-estate and people to attract this money. Like attracts like and more money flows there, blowing these bubbles even higher

The Burrough of Manhattan accounts for 42% of NY State’s entire GDP. What does Manhattan produce? Nothing, except financial trading. The largest portion of NY State budget is income taxes, and 30% of that comes from a mere 500 individuals and firms in Manhattan.

If the S&P500 crashes and our debt bubble collapse, urban/blue America is in deep trouble. Expect bailouts - even from Trump.

Great! Give the fu**er back to Mexico! Take those 54 electoral votes with you and give free transport to there for anyone wanting it. Then change the wall design to a) 50 feet high and with a slippery slide and b) where it goes. open the California border with Mexico and shut it with the eastern border.

Then come up with the U.S. Doctrine that any Chinese or Russian military troops will mean nuking the thing.

You didn’t mention cutting off electricity generated in the US. Let them figure out how to generate their own. Oh, and drinking water for LA coming from the Colorado River? That’s out until they sign a treaty.

a separate CAL would have plenty of drinking water. International law on sharing Rivers on the boundary (Colorado) would apply. Carlsbad opened a deal plant 2 years ago. Build 9 more on the coast. LA MWD has a good supply for LA County NorCal has plenty of water. Send more south.

The reason Cal won’t succeed is it’s a dumb idea. They threw a hissy fit when Trump was elected and hired Holder’s firm to sue Trump every time he sneezed. He won’t be president after 24.

If California wants electricity, water, internet, etc. it had better stop this nonsense. I would be very easy for the feds and the US military to quarantine shut down the state.

Also, California is essentially 3 very vulnerable cities: San Franciso, Los Angeles, and San Diego which will be extremely easy to cordon off and embargo.

Might shut down some of the potentially INFECTED crap (including Hollywood) coming out of there & from China and hasten the relocation of those operations (including film making) in America!
BTW, no more fed funds to them and Pelosi, Schiff, Swallowswell and the rest of that criminal crew goes away.
And any federal offices & people go east.
As for the wall below San Diego,we might need to annex a mile wide strip of Mexico and rebuild it there!
Next problem.

Move every rat politician and voter to Antarctica. Give them a real taste for the "paradise" they create.

Ensure that not one of them can change their mind to corrupt another state with their insanity.
