it is no longer necessary for someone who has been in contact with someone with COVID-19 to quarantine for 14 days. This applies to the general public, as well as health care workers and first responders.

The area must be very confident of their medical capabilities to handle any surge of potential COVID-19 cases.

it is no longer necessary for someone who has been in contact with someone with COVID-19 to quarantine for 14 days. This is likely a function of greatly expanded testing availability. Expect there is a high confidence level with a negative COVID-19 test at +/- 5 days post exposure, as opposed to wait and see whether symptoms arise within 14 days.

While it may seem confusing and frustrating, there is a learning curve for all new illnesses. Guidelines are revised as patterns emerge based on a variety of factors.
