I have to admit I was a little disappointed in two things about the press conference last night. 1) They should have been able to anticipate that they would have been asked whether or not the president and the vice president had been tested, and the answer should have been yes, and that they would continue to to be tested periodically until the epidemic is over. And 2) they do not have a consistent message about whether or not people should go on a cruise. The CDC says no one, especially those with underlying conditions, should go on a cruise. Dr. Fauci, on the other hand, says there’s no reason for a young, health person to go on a cruise.
If POTUS gets the COVID-19 test, he is either suspected of having the virus (demanding isolation) or he is wasting a limited resource. Do you see the no-win trap set up by the media?
if you watched the tape, the president was already off the podium and was at the door with guys behind him when the reporter yelled the question. Pence said that he hadn’t been tested and he would find out if the president had.
The reason the CDC advises against cruise ship travel, besides the chance of infection, is, the State Dept has warned cruisers that they cannot automatically depend on the US to airlift them if they get stranded in a foreign country. Ships are being denied portage, and will continue to be denied until Wuhan Flu is no longer a threat to the public. Since younger people may be less succeptible to the disease, Fauci can say what he wants to do the cruise industry a favor, but it goes back to, you’re not getting rescued.
