No DMR repeaters in Pocatello. openSPOT or nothing. Plenty of real DMR repeaters in San Diego, but I don't live there anymore. No desire to operate the only DMR repeater in southeast Idaho. It's 2m VHF or bust. I purchased a Yaesu 2980 for emergency services. Pragmatic. It remains to be seen how ham radio will figure into the corona virus events.

I have 2m/70cm and DMR capabilities on both. I'm also an HF guy stuck living in a townhome so I've had to learn how to make attic wire antenna's. They actually work as long as your attic is high enough up (mine is.)
VHF/UHF is good in the short term to get around the local communications issues, if you want to know what's going on in the rest of the world unfiltered, HF is the only way IMO.

Maybe someone is staying in their house will use the radio for entertainment or work some DX. I have a hotspot will monitor that and at lunch I will see if we have openings on 20 meters.
