I've hardly used my DMR capability, but did have good success chatting with people from Australia, England and Israel on the same "channel" one evening. The connections are very stable compared to HF. It's dirt cheap to setup.

I've hardly used my DMR capability, but did have good success chatting with people from Australia, England and Israel on the same "channel" one evening. The connections are very stable compared to HF. It's dirt cheap to setup. DMR is only as good as the internet connectivity connecting the DMR Repeaters, whether one's talking to someone in another state or another country. Network latency, ping response connection stability are critical.
From a DMR Repeater owner perspective (as I was up to last year) it isn't cheap to acquire a DMR Repeater, install a decent high-performance high-coverage antenna and run it 24x7x365 as I used to.
