I was trying to get my 25 year-old son to take this more seriously. He has done some stuff to prepare, but seems more dismissive of it than not. He brings up our better healthcare than China, etc.
I agree - to a point. But it ends up becoming a numbers game and not so much how “great” our healthcare system is or our response. The virus doesn’t care - it will continue to infect exponentially - and at some point has a very high likely-hood of overwhelming the system.
I started serious buying of stuff on January 24th. I had a bunch of N95 masks already but bought a few more boxes. My son also bought a box of ten for himself about that time - I was surprised when he told me that. I bought a whole bunch more stuff too. Much of it on the recommendations of freepers. It has worked out well so far. But need to get a better system in place, and make some room for decon in the garage.

It’s not so much about how good our healthcare is but the individual’s knowledge and behavior to avoid needing it.
