Slightly off topic: Have you noticed how we are warned not to blame the Chinese for a virus that originated in their country BUT ... we are ALWAYS reminded how evil Europeans brought diseases to the New World ...

“Warning” only works if it’s like Schumer and if it includes “you’ll never know what hit you” or watch yourself or don’t walk down any dark streets.

Those are warnings.

The truth is not relevant. The cause is everything.

The 1619 Project is nothing more than another assault on our history. On this particular claim, even the British did not abolish African slavery until the 1830s so the slavery claim is a patent lie. Completely and totally.

The British House of Commons no longer had the correct representation basis the UK’s population shift over time. Some of the members had seats but literally no constituents. If the colonies were going to actually get representation (no taxation without representation), then many in the House of Commons would lose their seats.... Hence, the colonies were cheated out any recognition regarding being taxed... Stamp Act... tariffs.... whatever. Slavery had nothing to do with it.

And, of course, there is the inconvenient fact that from 1619 to 1642 there was no slavery in the English colonies in America. There was indentured servitude, but indentures could be worked off, yielding freedom. Slavery in the colonies did not exist until a crown court in Virginia decreed that a certain man (John Casor), up until then an indentured servant, owed his labor to the holder of his indenture (Anthony Johnson) for the rest of his life.

“Have you noticed how we are warned not to blame the Chinese for a virus that originated in their country BUT ... we are ALWAYS reminded how evil Europeans brought diseases to the New World ...”

That is using logic and reason, and as such, reveals you to be a white-privileged racist pig.

These people are not “stupid”. They are willfully evil. They twist and ignore the truth to support their own prejudices.

It is not about history

This so-called project is about political agendas.

“...we are ALWAYS reminded how evil Europeans brought diseases to the New World …”

There is new research to disprove that too

And those diseases originated in China then as well.

This is a absolutely correct. And it included whites. I have a descendant that arrived in the Province of Carolina in 1642. The ship's manifest listed him as a prisoner of the crown. He was bought into servitude instead of rotting in jail. Good choice, I guess. He labored on a plantation, err, swamp land, along the New River. Must have been brutally hot, mosquito infested work conditions.

Wasn’t that long ago that some modern historians were arguing that a significant chunk of Washington’s Continental Army were freed blacks. I seem to remember a figure of 20%? That’s something I wasn’t taught in public schools.

I wonder how the 1619 Project authors would twist their arguments to account for that?

On August 19 of last year I listened in stunned silence as Nikole Hannah-Jones, a reporter for the New York Times,

A female double-barreled name, quoted in the NY Times. Before even looking, I’m going to guess her background, education, ideology, and life-story. Let’s see if I’m correct.

One of the five men killed in the Boston Massacre, 250 years ago yesterday, was Crispus Attucks, a "molatto." I'm sure he was confronting the British troops in the streets of Boston because he saw them as a threat to the continuation of slavery.

Yep. exactly what I expected.

why do leftists, who hate stereotypes, actually conform to stereotypes so tightly? Because they are ideologically possessed. That ideological possession creates tight bounds in their outlook and behavior.
