Prayers for Eric and family.
How in the world?
How in the world does a two-year-old child touch the world? Little Sawyer Kimberlin did. Last week he sang his favorite -”Holy, Holy, Holy”- to any who would listen; this week he sang in the presence of the Holy One Himself.
Yesterday, thousands joined him.
In churches across the country and around the world, they sang “Sawyer’s Song.” From Indiana to Indonesia, from South Carolina to Scotland to South Africa, they sang. Hours before most of us were awake, our beloved brethren in Bulgaria sang. The language is different, but the love is the same.
Sawyer loved looking at the moon, standing at his podium, blowing his pitch pipe, and singing, and... squeezing his favorite toy -a stuffed animal he called “Lovie.”
Yesterday, his body was laid to rest next to his father, Josh, in the arms of his mother, Erin, and clutching his “Lovie.”
They found Josh’s Bible. Inside, Josh had written these words, “I cannot change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination.” Indeed.
An unassuming young family living in a Tennessee town, yet living their faith. A faith they shared with family and friends. A faith they lived in front of their little boy. A little boy who... touched the world.
