Syria war: Turkish drone strikes 'kill 19 Syrian soldiers'

Nineteen Syrian soldiers have been killed in Turkish drone strikes on Idlib, a UK-based monitor has said.

...

Turkey also shot down two Syrian fighter jets on Sunday. Russia, a key backer of the Syrian government, has warned it cannot guarantee the safety of Turkish aircraft in Syrian airspace.

Tensions in Idlib escalated sharply last week when at least 33 Turkish soldiers were killed in an air strike.

The pilots of the two Syrian jets brought down on Sunday parachuted to safety over Idlib province, where Turkish troops and rebels have been clashing with Syrian government forces.

Syria, meanwhile, announced that it had brought down three Turkish drones.

Syrian state news said the country was closing its airspace in the north west of the country and that any aircraft that violated this would "be considered a hostile aircraft which must be downed".

Turkey, which backs rebels in Idlib, said it had also targeted Syrian air defence systems and dozens of tanks.

Bad against worse. You’re right. Neither side is our friend. We should stay out of it if possible.

Mad Moe supported slavery, looting and endless warfare as long as it was on his behalf, or his sock puppet Allah. What actually happens is that mozlems kill more mozlems than Infidels.

Turks verses Syrians is a case in point. Iran verses Iraq was another. These nutcases go around blowing up thier fellow countrymen all the time because they are either the wrong kind of Moslem or not Moslem enough!

I thought the Turks bought Rooskie Air Defense systems.

The Rooskies can’t put some kind of stealth mojo onto the Syrian Air Force against SAMs?

What is the world coming to? It’s getting to where you can’t even send your army into another country to grab territory without them shooting at you or something!

Interesting how that is mentioned in passing. Seems like a real big deal.

That map is not really accurate.

Turkey has driven thousands of troops and heavy equipment into Idlib Province in recent weeks, and they (and their jihadi surrogates) re-captured Saraqeb (critical juncture of the M4 and M5 highways).

Push is coming to shove between Turkey and Syria, toward open war. The mask is coming off, of Turkey’s use of surrogate front groups.

Sanctions need to be proposed/prepared on Turkey for their aggression. Unleashing hordes of muslim immigrants into Europe has long been Turkey’s threat to prevent that, but they are now playing that card, and starting to whip the mob over the border. Push is coming to shove on that front too.
